I've followed the webpage guide and the SID/TID 27764/27720, and ive got a cute charm pokemon as my lead pokemon, but im not encountering any shiny pokemon.
I know I don't have max shiny odds enabled (I prefer Male shiny pokemon) but I assumed the shiny odds would still be high for the specific SID/TID? Maybe i'm wrong on how i think this works let me know.
Also im playing on pokemon platinum

What gender is your cute charmer?
female lopunny
Humor me. What happens if you use a male lopunny with cute charm. Without access to Pokefinder (I’m at work atm) I can’t verify but I suspect the target gender is for your cute charmer, not the shinies.
luckily i did accidentally evolve a male buneary before realising it was male...
anyways with a male lopunny with cute charm, 50 encounters or so in and no shiny
Hmm. Are you 100% sure that your SID is correct?
yeah im 99% sure, heres the TID/SID on a web pkhex when i open my save file
So if that is a valid cute charm TID/SID combo, your shiny odds should be ~1/25 on anything that cute charm affects. Where are you hunting?
i've done some testing and somethings not adding up. i used a new cute charm TID/SID (shown in the picture below) with a cute charm female pokemon to find male shinies, but havent found 1 in around 200 encounters.
however using a cute charm male pokemon and cute charm TID/SID with 'max shiny odds' selected (target gender is locked as female), shiny odds are fine
so it might just be that these TID/SID are not correct? or maybe im just getting suuuuper unlucky and not finding a single shiny with 1/25 odds?
also i was searching in eterna forest before, but for the tests i've been hunting in lake variety
I’ll plug this into Pokefinder when I get home. Maybe the max shiny odds not being selectable is the issue. I’m not super familiar with the setup but I know that male shinies are just as possible with cute charm.
cheers let me know how it goes when u can 👍
I suspect there's a misunderstanding about PID groups.

1 in around 200 encounters
Based on this exchange, it sounds like you might have tried 200 random encounters, not 200 encounters of Pokemon that would be affected by the cute charm.
27764/27720 and 47668/47619 are both cute charm ids for Pokemon that are male 87.5% of the time, which is a super small list of gen 4 Pokemon: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Pokémon_by_gender_ratio#1_♀_:_7_♂
Female Pokemon have the highest cute charm shiny odds because cute charm shinies occur regardless of the gender ratio. For male Pokemon the tid/sid combo only works for a specific gender ratio.
The gender ratio column comes after the natures in the results. You might consider getting a tid/sid combo that makes more male Pokemon shiny.
