Hey! I was able to successfully rng my TID and SID, and I am looking to get my shiny starter in platinum. I had a few questions about this guide https://www.pokemonrng.com/retail-dppt-starter/

  1. I saved my game after getting my TID/SID, do I need to do this all in one go in order to get my shiny starter?
  2. Are the steps mentioned in blissy's video still relevant? I've heard that this is no longer necessary with the new method but wanted to double check.
  3. When the guide asks my to "prepare the save" does this mean I need to change my console date, go into platinum, and save the game?
  4. I know there is no way to check my delay this early in the game, but how do I know that I am advancing it properly? Or is this not necessary and can be done exclusively with starting the game up at the right time?

Really appreciate any help! Thanks.

  1. You don't need to do everything in one step. Part of the point of the new tools is to make sure you can do them separately.
  2. I haven't seen the video, but the workflow for this tool is different than normal, so it's probably not relevant. I'll hopefully have a video up in the next few days showing off this process.
  3. Yes, you need to change your console date, then save right in front of the starters.
  4. The calibration step does find the delay! This tool has the ability to do that based on your starter stats. No advances are required, but you will need to button mash to get into the starter briefcase as fast as possible.

The reason to set your console date is to help stabilize the RNG advances and make it consistent. I looked into this recently and found some new info: #nds-games-chat message

I've tested Platinum quite a bit across various saves and consoles, but there might still be some odd things I didn't encounter. Expect dragons!

And good luck 🙂
