#Shiny Starter RNG ORAS Citra

Hello,

I would like to obtain a shiny starter in ORAS on Citra and I'm trying to get set up. I've never done RNG abuse in Gen 6 but I have done gens 3, 4, 5, and 8 so I have some background. I have Citra emulator, CitraRNG, 3DS RNG Tool, and Tiny Finder installed. Do I need anything else? Or, is there a better set up or a tool I don't have that is better than what I do have?

My biggest question though: is there a way to manipulate my TID/SID/TSV for a specific seed to have shiny result with desired IVs, similar to gen 4 RNG? For example, I used TinyReader to search for a flawless IV Adamant or Jolly spread that I want shiny for my starter and future wild pokemon. Do I need to take this result and use it to manipulate my TID/SID, or is that even possible? I've been following guides from PokemonRNG, user Bambo-Rambo's guides on github, and user CappyCapital's video guides and none mention this, so I'm inclined to think it's not possible, but I would just like to be sure instaed of assuming.

If not possible I will just skip TID/SID manipulation and go for a shiny that doesn't have perfect IVs. If it is possible, could someone please give their guidance on how I should proceed? I appreciate it, thank you!

100% possible ?

#

Like TSV works the same it's just that it's not as efficient as other gens.

#

Getting solid spreads rather more on initial seed rng (which is a tedious Citra thing) rather than just a TSV thing

Ah I see. Is it worth my time to try manipulating for a specific TSV then? And if so, is the process simply finding a seed with a spread I like in Tiny Reader > MT RNG, taking the PSV from that seed to 3DS RNG Tool > ID RNG tab, and searching for results?

uh ?

Oh yeah got it

#

Well finding results will be more tedious but in the theory yep

#

grab the PSV, RNG a matching TSV done

#

but you're on citra so getting a TID / SID RNG is way easier

Ok thank you, I will try that. Seems the most tedious part will be finding a matching TSV but once I find a match should be straightforward. Thank you very much

Still not sure if it's 100% worth it tho

@twilit mortar I’m pretty familiar with this. If you are pursuing it, feel free to ask questions. Follow bambo’s guide on initial seed and tid/sid manip. Also, you can read this thread or #poke-reader-dev for more info

@tardy pilot is there a way to find a TSV without having to manip them on citra?

Yep with a 3ds cfw
