Heya Folks, Im a new persons here. I found my way here through modding videos for Hollow Knight. There is a skin called the Halloween skin that I really like, but I am REALLY bad at this game. It seems there is a challenge that requires you to beat one of the critters with a charm for one health? I feel your pain Chasse. I was super disappointed that there are challenge requirements for some of the skins, especially since I enjoy playing the game but I am not interested in any "god" level game play. However, I also understand that the folks who took the time to create them should be able to decide if there is some special way to obtain them. I guess Im kinda used to this kind of thing from warframe and glyphs. Some content creators (program has been changed now tho) required different things to obtain their glyphs in game. I mean, I do wish there was some way of obtaining them outside of having to play the game that way, but it is what it is I guess. There are indeed a lot of great skins annndddd they have the info to create your own skins too :) I mean don't steal anyone else's LOL but nothing stopping you from making your own :)

@granite sequoia For spells only AR you want Shaman Stone + Spell Twister + Hiveblood + Grubsong (leaves one charm for whatever). You gain soul by jumping into the void for one damage, then let Hiveblood heal it back. Avoid AR's attacks as the two damage won't allow you to fully heal from Hiveblood. Use Abyss Shriek when it's safe for maximum damage.
@granite sequoia The easiest way for Double Vessel is Shaman Stone + Spell Twister and either soul boosting charms like Soul Eater or Lifeblood Core (you can pair Fragile Heart with it for 11 notches) or such. Build soul and DD through attacks. Takes a while to get the hang of the attacks.

AR is much, much longer of an attempt. Double Vessel will be significantly shorter. I'd say DV is probably harder, personally, but YMMV. And it might be more frustrating to lose to AR six or seven minutes into an attempt.
So there's different considerations. If you're confident in beating Absolute Radiance then you might have an easier time spells only.

I don't think Vessel Fragments are working correctly. In older versions of the mod, getting all 9 pieces would give you one mini-vessel for a total of 2 casts, but now I don't think any past the first invisible "minivessel" are counting. Not to mention the odd number of reserve soul is breaking the death animation. Godseeker Mode seems to calculate it correctly, so I'm not sure what's gone wrong with the main game vessels.

The slower focus speed doesn't seem to be working either right now. While I kind of like this, (the slower heal speed is a step too many considering you're still taking double damage AND can only restore one mask at a time thanks to the lowered SOUL bar) it's still not working and I feel I should mention it.

I have a feeling the max SOUL bug is related to dying when you have a reserve vessel but not all 3. The game doesn't know what to do when draining that bit of soul in the death animation and freaks out.

When I die, the Knight just freezes in frame 1 of their death animation, no shade visibly spawns, the soul gauge doesn't "break", and after a moment it just fades out to the last bench while visibly retaining the soul I died with (but not actually, it's working correctly outside of the visuals, at least as far as that goes)
But I think taking a death in that circumstance is what's broken the vessel fragments. I have all 9 on this file, but I have less total soul than I should. I think somewhere along the way I've confused the game into not actually increasing my max soul when I collect 3. I'd have to start another run and get all 9 fragments deathless to tell for sure.
For now I fixed it with a save editor.
and yeah, limit focus just plain isn't working right now, both settings are default speed

Okay it's not super important but I'm still a bit disappointed...
A while ago I lost the spoiler log for a randomizer run (namely the one my comic is based on), but I still managed to retrieve the seed (978816073). However when I restarted a randomizer run with that same seed in order to create a new spoiler log, while the starting items were identical, I quickly noticed that the rest of the items aren't in the same locations... Is that normal?
(PS: the original run had the "cursed" mode on, but when I restarted that new run with the same seed I didn't check that option because now my game freezes whenever I try to do that. Is it because of this that the items' locations aren't the same anymore?)
Bottom line it'd be super cool if I could recreate the exact same conditions as my original run in order to be able to retrace my steps more accurately, but if that's not possible because the Randomizer was updated in the meantime and the starting options are no longer exactly the same... well, I guess that can't be helped.

If you didn't have cursed on, then I'd think items should be in different since there are a number of pick-ups changed to be 1 geo. They may be in the same locations, though, as I don't know how cursed randomization vs normal randomization works.

Yeah, I expected that the only difference would be the replacement to 1 geo, not their actual location... Either I got some other details wrong regarding the QoL options, or the seeds aren't the same anymore maybe?? At least I know that the QoL options have slightly changed with the latest update so I wasn't able to pick exactly the same ones as last time. But since they're just stuff like Salubra's Notches or Lemm's... Maybe the fact of having the extra platforms & 1.2.2.1 levers can have an impact on the randomization of the items??? Otherwise I really don't know what happened, because the skips and randomization were exactly the same -- apart from the cursed option, as I said.

Cursed does change some actual locations. Easy cursed is currently bugged - if you can get a hold of an old randomizer version you may be able to regenerate your easy cursed seed

Nope, the only mods I have are the randomizer and the mods it requires in order to work. I literally have no other mods at all. Basil said that "easy cursed" is bugged, so that must be the cause.
Checking the modlog, something quite unexpected happens -- the items are randomized again and again, supposedly with completely different seeds each time, and it goes in a loop. Not only can't I access the game correctly, but I can't even get the results of the seed I was looking for.

This really isn't a mystery. Easy cursed isn't possible because Flukemarm was changed to require level 2 spells on easy, because too many people are bad at fighting Flukemarm. The only really surprising thing is that cursed didn't already force hard mode.

Hi! I have a file user4.json which seems to contain the data for a Randomized run I played, except I'd like to find a way to copy the randomized save file and revert it to the very moment it started (no progress at all, just the exact same randomizer file but starting from scratch). Is it possible?
(PS: I'm resorting to shady methods like these because I just can't seem to recreate the exact same randomization parameters as the file I need to replicate, despite the fact that I know the seed and all.)
In other words, my question is closer to "just how does the .json file affect the save file in order to force it to follow the parameters it indicates?", and if it's possible to take/create a "blank" save file and make it so that the .json affects it to transform it into a randomized run.

That .json is your actual save. Idk how rando stores data but it might be possible to do what you are saying

I did something, and looking at the profile of my save file in the game, this looks promising! Thank you so much for letting me know that there actually was a free online save editor that automatically decrypts + encrypts files!
... except that the screen is constantly trembling, I can't seem to do anything except open the Debug Mod menu, I can't pause, and looking at the Hero Pos going crazy I have no idea what's going on

Hrm. As I feared, even as I read the entirety of my save file and searched for ways to apply the randomized parameters, it seems that I can't make everything work. At the very least, here's an example of what should work but doesn't:
The stag stations are supposed to be randomized, but I can't get the randomized item to be shown at the feet of the bell. If I try to make it so that the station is "already opened" (as in, the toll has already been paid and the bell is out), the bell is indeed out but no collectible item is in sight. If I leave the station closed, the toll appears, but paying for it will only make the bell appear, and once more the item doesn't show up.
Cornifer is also present while he shouldn't be (maps were supposed to be randomized as well), and once more, no collectible in sight either.
Same thing for grubs, too...
Does anyone know how I could force the save file to accept the proper randomization parameters? They are already present in the save file and are the correct ones, so I really don't know what's missing...
PS: I finally found an item that is supposed to look like a collectible even in a non-randomized game, and I can confirm that it's not the item the randomizer indicates.

Soul attacks are replaced with more combo oriented attacks, if you press the button a few times your attacks will be a bit more powerful

i mean, i'm not the best, but i can tell you that at a certain point the detail doesn't really matter anymore
like especially with smaller details, if the color is very slightly off or if a body part is like one pixel off it most likely won't matter
but you should definitely pack them and test them out in game, otherwise you won't know for sure
actually being one pixel off could matter
and when i look at your skin, i'm thinking about if it would be too cluttered and difficult to read
but honestly the best and easiest way to tell is just to test it out in game
