I can give some more general feedback on this boss as well, based on first impressions. I feel like him extending his head up or down could have different sound queues; Hollow Knight relies on sound queues a great deal in its boss design and having them the same has fucked me up a few times, especially when he extends his head up top, since it's a visual queue I can often feel like once I've noticed it there's nothing for me to do

that and the pogoing are what is giving me the most grief here

#

otherwise this transition is pretty seamless

#

of course alternatively the pause between queue and attack for up top could be made longer to match how it is when he does the same attack on the bottom layer

#

there are probably a few ways to do it

#

in Cuphead things like this are fine because you can just hop down the platform by pressing down and jumping

I looked into that animation and it seems like it's supposed to be triggered by damage. still not sure why the dash crystal sprites are in there, they actually belong to a different animation. haven't run ingame yet so not sure if they even show up there or not

Ah, I figured it was related to a weird bug I've been testing out involving the map

FWIW, if you hold open the map while transitioning rooms, it does some really weird stuff, including clipping you. I don't have this happen in vanilla.

idk if this is known or not, but for the Inferno King Grimm mod, there's a sound effect during his pufferfish mode that bypasses the Master Volume setting. I was playing with it set to 0 cause I was chilling on a call with someone when a sort of gravely hissing noise came into my ears. It also persists whenever I pause the game during that phase. I tested it out on NKG and found no such sound, and same for just WeaverCore and no IKG, but whenever IKG is on, that noise always is produced during the pufferfish phase, no matter what the master volume is at. A similar sound bug happens whenever IKG is staggered: I hear the nail striking, and then the flattery sound of wings (that also doesn't stop even when the game is paused) that abruptly cuts off when the bats reconverge. As far as I can tell, these are the only two phases that bypass the master sound setting
