Yk what would be so cool? If there was an enemy in silksong that worked like the neighbor in hello neighbor. Maybe it’s part of some kind of minigame, and it learns your movements, strategies, and more. Perhaps you have to break into a place and this one bug that’s guarding it actually peruses you as you try to enter. As you learn how to avoid him and get in, he learns how to better catch you. It could be neat if they did something like that.

Speaking of, I have a friend who refuses to get hollow knight even though they have Game Pass so its free, and yet they tell me "hey look at Ori look how good Ori is it has RaYtRaCiNg, I cant run it as I dont have the right graphcs card but I dont see how someone thinks that Raytracing is nicer than hand-drawn, especialy in a 2D envirnment

I have played Ori and the Blind Forest, and personally I hated it, it just felt bad, maybe the sequel is better but I don't really want to play it. The music was pretty generic aswell

I’ll also note that both HK and ori have great art direction. There’s no need to compare videogames to anything but a theoretically better version of themselves

Ori had faults in its combat, progression, and worldbuilding.

Ori 2 fixed all of those things, but then failed to make iterations on the original.
The game is new but it’s also the same sets of ideas for area design

As for silksong, game isn’t out yet. So who knows

I'm not sure what I'm going to think about more focus on combat in Silksong, it's probably a good thing, given Hornets larger move pool but I think im going to miss the platforming

Maybe its the same level of platforming as HK but with more combat sections as it's a larger game, it certainly seemed that way in the Treehouse demo and the trailer

Silksong has tighter combat. Larger focus on risk/reward gameplay with the intention of making fights faster, but also giving players the ability to recover or gain large amounts of ground after losses

It he exploration loop has yet to be presented, but we now have:
-A protagonist that can talk and ask questions
-A new set of movement abilities, reworked from the base. We can’t pogo anymore, but we also have a grapple hook.
-quest systems.
-a kingdom that isn’t dead. There are political factions, communities, and story driven events yet to take place that we will be present for.

So no. I don’t think Silksong looks to have less of a focus on the exploration loop, especially in regards to worldbuilding and platforming.

So I don’t think fleas will escape to be annoyances that you resolve for rewards, they’re probably going to be like grubs - tools to incite and reward engagement with the exploration loop

The thing about grubs is that, until you get the collecters map, you aren't really hunting them intentionally, you just find them whilst exploring

But if there are that many Fleas you won't be finding them accidentally most of the time

And hunting out ~100 Fleas probably is more of a chore than basic exploration

You search for grubs and value them as a means of gaining rewards. To get more grubs you have to cover more of the map.
Grubs are also still used as optional platforming encounters.

How many rooms do you see with a grub behind a wall, and then a line of spikes between you and it
