I do have a system in mind but it's not fully fleshed out yet
they use their tail as their weapon, and the spell system is based on a kind of focus (less like HK Focus and more like literal focusing, but both are related)
you have three levels of focus, and you spend one (or two) to use a spell/heal (healing is instant). You gain levels by hitting enemies as regular, and you fill up a level after 3 hits. If you get hit, you lose a level of focus, and all levels reset when you sit on a bench
the gimmick is that there are different types of focus, and you can change them like crests (they don't affect your tools and moveset tho). For example, there's one that lets you have an extra level, one that lets you fill a level with one hit but if you take damage you lose all levels, one that doesn't fill when you hit an enemy but instead fills automatically, ect
