Silksong definitely has the DNA of a Dark Souls game, in the sense that some bosses take up to dozens of attempts to defeat, everything deals way too much damage, and you gotta look under every rock to find whatever upgrades you need

Best and most immediate example is with the pogo. The timing and way you pogo is different between the games, and if you're used to HK, youll be terrible with it until you adjust. Directly down with complete control of your movement VS a downright or downleft lunge is pretty different mechanically.

tbh from my experience with silksong, it might as well be a completely different game (i mean it is), like you can see the bones of HK but aside from the base ideas, pretty much everything works differently.
hornet's playstyle is completely different from the Knight's. She got traps, acrobatics, etc. her entire playstyle revolves around setting traps and maneuvering around the enemies in swift acrobatic movements.
The Knight's were far less focused on movement and evasion, it was lot more on timing and stuff.

I love it. I still prefer hk to it so far, but it took me years for hollow knight to become as important to me now as it is, so I expect the game to become more important towards me as time goes.

I think literally my only issue so far is that I haven't found as many secrets as there is in hk, and while I could he wrong since I'm not that far yet, I'm worried there won't be as much backtracking which was literally one of my favorite parts of hk. Or if there is, I'm worried it won't be to the same extent with what was present in the first two areas of HK once you backtracked.
