huh. in the mod overview, it says "elderbug is a cool dude" and since i've watched randomizers with dirtmouth named that, i just assumed that was what it was

the description "elderbug is a cool dude" is just a reference to what randomizer does to change the dirtmouth text.

They should be in Contents/Resources/Managed/Mods/CustomKnight

there is a data folder and inside is a bunch of levels and then shared assets

Just download the file and replace the one in your hollow knight directory and it will work

Hey guys. rookie here using mods. Every time I use save states, I usually can't leave the room I saved. For example I'm working one of the pantheons and when I reset to a boss, I can kill the boss but I'm stuck in the room. Is this just how Debug works or is there something I can do about this? Btw, running this on an imac Catalina.

if so, copy the Default folder and move it over to the first location (hollow_knight.app/Contents/Resources/Data/Managed/Mods/CustomKnight)

my debug mod install for 1221 doesn't work. It did work, but i save quit and then quit the game. After that I can't choose an alternative in the main menu. The mouse is visible but there's no indicator around the options and therefore I can't go any further than that. Also, there's no indicator for debug mod in the top left corner which it did b4 the problem occured.

Connected-Area Room Randomizer (CAR) - Randomizes Rooms within the same Map location, and Items are randomized.
Room Randomizer - Randomizes nearly every load transition in the game, and Items.
i don't quite understand the difference
well, i do understand room randomizer and item randomizer but not area randomizer or connected area randomizer.
I think it's like this: area rando will make it so that, for instance, Crystal Peak connects to Deepnest through the toll entrance, but the rooms within Crystal Peak are connected to each other normally. Whereas connected-area room rando will have the room in Crystal Peak with the toll actually leading to Forgotten Crossroads as it should, but the rooms within Peak are all jumbled up

um.. So I started playing with the item randomizer recently and I'm pretty sure I got softlocked progression since three important progression items got randomized into a complex state of requiring each other to obtain
so I can't get them


Hi everyone, first time writing here. I installed (using the same mod installer that is pinned here) the following series of mods about a week ago and everything was going smoothly: benchwarp, custume knight, loadnormalizer, QoL, randomapmod, randomizer 3, seanprcore and spent geo tracker. However when i start the game now the main menu seems corrupted, i can't access any save file and going into options>mods softlocks the application. I tried to re-install the game (bought via steam) in a different directory but upon using the mod installer (i made sure to re-download it from the pinned messages to get the latest version) and installing any mod the same problem occurs. Disabling the mods via the mod installer successfully moves the .dll in the "Disabled" folder, but the problem persists. Using the steam feature "verify the integrity of the game's files" solves the problem (my old savefiles remained intact) but brings the game back to vanilla. Also this somehow changed the language to german (wtf?). Do you guys have any idea of what is going on?

so what you want to focus on are the sections titled float values and int values
look at what you want to edit ex: maxAttackSpeedMult
look at the the value associated ex: maxAttackSpeedMult is the first entry, so take the first entry in the values section and edit it

I think you need to go to your saves and delete moddingAPI.json

trying to follow the pinned post, using mono --arch=32 to run the modinstaller.exe, but found some problem

and make sure to run it from desktop because for some reason it doesn't work when run from downloads

the thing is, it's not complete in this doc, like the mod QoL, there's a "etc." in the last sentence
i mean, in the past when i used windows, i knew that i can get a readme of the mod by modinstaller
they are there on mac too
you just have to install the mod first
and im pretty sure the summaries are the same as the readmes for the mods with readmes
not the same but more or less a generalized writeup cause the mod makers can do the specifics in the readme

you can always install them and then go into hollow_knight.app, where the readmes should be
and make sure to run it from desktop because for some reason it doesn't work when run from downloads

@novel bronze I see that it is a common bug that the controller not working when using modding api, did you manage to get how to solve it? kinda not obvious for me at the moment
so I'm running the game and controller using desktop config instead of game config
and reconnecting do the same
Never managed to fix it but it seems like a universal bug of controllers not connecting to HK with mods on Macs
desktop config = ps button + stick move => cursor moving

Did you check your ModLog?

In Finder go to Application Support and then find Steamapps and then find Team Cherry
And ModLog will be in the Team Cherry folder

Hi <@&328354344313421825>, having some difficulty getting Custom Knight skins to work, and I'm lost when it comes to deciphering the ModLog posted above. As far as I'm aware I have all the prerequisites installed (Modcommon, Modding API and SeanprCore) and the files/folders are in the correct location as per the instructions. I am running HK v1.4.3.2 purchased through GOG on macOS 10.14.6. Any assistance would be much appreciated!

yeah I'm playing with DS4
well I didnt change anything in my setup except that I used different key config for my controller, I manually changed all the keys on controller to match their keyboard key bindings
idk how to say that properly so you basically map your X button on controller to match Z on keyboard
it's basic steam feature, and Z button on keyboard does the same what X on DS4 so game thinks you pressed Z on keyboard when you press X on controller
that's obviously not the same as full controller support (idk yet what to use for sticks for example), but it is playable at least
i did that because I noticed that game actually sees controller, but somehow it's broken, there are 3 different setups steam is offering, and game using desktop dunno why

Oh, so the 2 reachable item locations are Sly and Iselda (so basically it reckons I can get to dirtmouth)?
Well if you have rooms randomized then getting to dirtmouth isnt getting to the shops
and getting to sly's shop and saving him are also two different stories
it shows you're still in menu_title, if you need it to display mid-game you have to refresh the log

you're missing the modding api
ILSpy and DNSpy are mostly just about checking the games code for reference
I gave up. was trying to just have damage and health bindings on (or 1/2 dmg and 1/2 maxHP)
If any one knows a simple way to apply only half the bindings or limit HP and dmg, feel free to share
cheat engine seems to work for dmg, not sure about HP or enemy dmg

In vanilla with lifeblood heart and Joni's blessing its okay to obtain lifeblood blessing but with Lightbringer lifeblood heart is replaced to another charm
