There are a lot of mods, and bonfire is an abandoned mod not many people have extensive experience with. If you are worried about specific conflicts, you can ask, but no one is going to give a full list
well the mods I have on, that work without bonfire, but not with it are
Randomizer, enemy randomizer, lightbringer, infinite notches, and enemy HP bar

Bonfire is meant to be played alone anyways.
And randomizer and enemy randomizer aren't meant to be used together, and lightbringer isn't meant to be used with either of those, and enemy randomizer glitches out regularly anyways
The point being, that if you bring a list of 7 mods and ask "what's wrong?", we're going to get very tired very quickly

Hi, this has probably been asked before but I've just installed the HK Mod installer, and I'm bombarded with about 50+ mods I have the option of installing. Is there a gallery depicting what each mod does somewhere? Some sort of website or something? A google doc, even?

So when I try to boot up the mod installer, it says Connection Failed Unable to download mod list. I then get three options, Offline Mode, Retry, and Abort. Retry gives me the same thing, and abort shuts it down. Is there something wrong currently with it?

i found a way to get rid of the bench but now im stuck in the floor again
and i cant pause so there is no way of warping to any bench with the mod
just quit and restart
there's 2 dream nail pickups
first one gives you DN, second gives you gate
so yes, that's normal
dream gate is somewhere on the map. if you find it, you get dream nail

Also, I have been using the enemy randomizer a lot and I was pretty excited about the Godmaster option, but those enemies don't seem to spawn regardless of whether the option is on or not. Can I fix this?

Hi guys,
I'm trying to find a way to install mods on Linux, but so far no luck. ModInstaller with mono was the only "solution" I found (here) but it doesn't really work. I installed CustomKnights, it created a few files in the Mods folder, but with paths and backslashes in the filename, then I copied the Grimm Knight sprites to its place. Nothing changed in-game, so I removed the partial path from the filenames, copied them to the Managed folder but the only result I got was a message when I start the game stating that

is all i have to do to install the custom knight mod is to extract the file then put the extract file in the games code then enable the mod then there i have it

I copied Assembly-CSharp.dll and Assembly-CSharp.xml without the path to up one folder, overwriting the already existing Assembly-CSharp.dll

well first off, you have the API or something in a place it doesn't need to be

found it, I copied the files from the Mods folder, had to delete them. Now I lost controller support but the mod's active

Tried to switch it on after I start the game and it detects it, it's just not working.
@real jacinth I don't have xinput settings in-game, I can only remap the controls or load the default
disabled the per-game settings but that didn't help
and if I power up the controller after I'm already in a saved game, it just crashes
There was a way to fix this that was linux specific, but I don't remember what it was

I think there's a folder inside your Hollow Knight install path called Custom Knight, you just put the sprites in there

Installed mods one at a time, The mod installer was installing a bad Bench warp for some reason.
I used a file I had locally and it worked up until the i installed randomizer 3.0 New one was of 9/24 or the old one dated 8/9 and the both crash on startup
i just installed mods for hollow knight using the modinstaller for mac, but when i start the game through steam, no text shows up in the corner, any ideas?

okay, thanks for trying. i tried going through my library to the steam commons folder and selecting the hollowknight.app but the API says thats an invalid path

This is my file path where it works. Not sure how different it is for mac
When I open the mod installer it tells me that benchwarp is out of date, but when I update and use the new file it makes the game crash.
If I use my last known good version of bench warp the game runs... until I install the Randomizer 3.0 (last known good file or a later version)
i tried your suggested path, as it is very similar to the mac path, but the API still thinks its an invalid path and asks me to select the correct path
are you able to search for a file called "Assembly-CSharp"
I think you are going to end up replacing that file
unless it is called something different on mac

When you downloaded the Zip file with the Mac ModInstaller there may have been the API file (Assembly-CSharp) in there.Replace it with that?

I can't really say much but fwiw I was using the new benchwarp from both the installer and source and it was fine
Yeah, I don't think the errors you're seeing would cause a game crash
More likely to be an issue with the preload system and your game

Hey, I am new to Hollow Knight modding and I have run into some issues
I am on ubuntu 18.04 and have installed Hollow Knight via steam
- Mod Manager expands the Modding API incorrectly. It creates files called:
'hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll'
'hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.xml'
in the 'hollow_knight_Data/Managed/Mods' folder. If I rename those files and put them in the correct place, the mods load when I start the game. - Once mods are installed, at the main menu and in the game my controller does not work. I have tried 2 difference controllers both of which work in an unmodded version of the game (xbox360 wired and 8bitdo SF30).

responding without understanding 
controller support for the API on Linux is suboptimal
The inputs are different between the assemblies and the API is compiled on windows so you need a recompilation from the Linux assemblies for it to work

It is when I add benchwarp that the game crashes... Or if I add the randomizer3.0
It crashes on the loading screen (no controller plugged in)

I can't Seem to figure this out:
- I uninstalled the game and every file left behind by the mod installer
- Deleted all mod installer exe files and the .exe
- Reinstalled Hollow Knight from Steam- game works, files verified
- Downloaded Modinstaller/ (API installed and ModCommon) - HK Works
- Add SeanprCore- HK works
- Add Benchwarp - HK Crashes

let me tell you what happens , when you press hk icon , the knight walking at the bottom shows up , few seconds later main menu shows up , but only ambience music playing not the music

its something about saves
maybe deleting mod related things from your save file works but i just deleted them all
seems like a ridiculous approach to something that's probably as simple as installing too many mods or installing outdated mods
the saves themselves are very very very unlikely to be the issue here

I get this too, I usually just click the button to go back to game rather than press esc
Don't think there's a fix for esc yet (I haven't tried fixing it in the mod but it's probably possible)

@weary dew getting mods really just includes downloading that thing and then picking which mod you want and turning it on/off
so, if you wanna try, downloading mods has been made pretty convenient

a friend of mine is having issues with debug mod. he had it uninstalled before, and yesterday he was practicing it was fine. but today he noticed while practicing flukmarm in hall of gods that the spawns took two hits to kill instead of one. when installed again, he was practicing flukemarm and noticed how the spawns switch from taking one hit to kill to taking two hits to kill. With the debug overlay on, the nail damage did not change, it stayed at 21, while this kept switching back and forth. he has no other mods installed. any help?

It's 2 hits with nail4 in ascended/radiant iirc and 1 in attuned

I think i corrupted the files! My save files are infinitely loading and when I go to the mod section I can't go back to the menu.
Since custom knight stopped working for some reason, I unistalled and installed it again

i cant seem to revert to unmodded with the modinstaller - it says Unable to locate vanilla hollow knight but installing and disabling mods works fine... Im having lag issues with the enemy randomizer. Whenever i enter a room or kill an enemy i have a big lag spike
enemy randomizer is known to be unstable
I had to move my hollow knight install directory, but now whenever I run mod installer it says the game dosn't exist and closes, and seems to create a directory where the old one was, with nothing in it. Installing a new mod installer does the same thing. Anyone know how to tell it where the new directory is?

- My ModInstaller can't find Hollow Knight.
- The first time you launch ModInstaller, it will prompt you to set the filepath if it can't find the game. If you skipped past the prompt before, you can reset the ModInstaller's settings by deleting the "ModInstaller" folder at %appdata%..\Local

i had debug mod for a while and now ive deleted the modding api and all the mods
and on one of my files it still feels like the 'infinite jump' from debug is on even though i dont have modding api anymore
idk what else couldve caused it if not debug mode but
reinstall it and disable it then
infinite jump is a change made to your save file
you need to use the mod to turn it off
then uninstall the mods again
i don't remember leaving it on but i'll try that
