hello all, i hate to be the guy that asks a question that already has been answered before but it pertains to all of those recolors of the hollow knight. Are those recolors (such as the one that turns HK's mask into something similar to Grimm's face and makes all of HK's energy colors red) and the one that changes HK into zote already in the modinstaller? and if so, what is it under?

Is there an issue with the Bindings mod in 1.4.2.4? It seems to prevent me from sitting and benches and sometimes locks motion altogether
And the Mods setting in the Options menu is unselectable
If I try to move down towards it, the arrow skips over it and into "back"
I followed Verulean's tutorial to install both of them
But I'm not sure if I did something wrong still
if mods setting is unselectable then use mouse

and i followed the specifics
you need to make a folder
for mac
inside the hollow knight.app, make a folder called "contents"
then more folders in that
so.... "hollow knight.app/contents/managed/mods/CustomKnight"
then put the image files inside the customknight folder
all 7 PNGs must be there
even if they're vanilla
it won't work without 7 files

@tawny carbon I reverted back to vanilla today and fixed the update (DNS issue, changed to cloudfare dns and it worked). Now I'm on the latest version and I used the ModInstaller to install the API and the Bindings mod, and I'm still having the same issue. The mod itself works fine, but if I attempt to sit on a bench, the game softlocks until I quit and restart.

Hey! I tried installing a health bar mod for hollow knight but once I went in the Managed Folder and replaced two files the game now won’t start. I’ve tried looking up ways to fix this but I had no luck. Would anyone know anyway to help me fix this?
I’m pretty sure all I did was replace the Vanilla Assembley-CSharp.dll with one from the mod. There was also Assembely-CSharp.xmz I think and I replaced that as well
There was no mod folder though and instead I just replaced the original ones in the Managed Folder
I don’t know how to revert it back now though

I have almost 125 hours on my save and I’ve beaten every single boss on radiant except radiance. I was downloading the mod because I just wanted to know how much health the radiance had on each stage but now it seems to screw me over. I’ve also beat panther 1, 2, and 4 with all bindings and beat panethon of hollownest once so I REALLY don’t want to lose my progress XP

Ok so, are you saying I have to revert the game back to vanilla to fix it?
I thought I had done that. I downloaded the API zip file and put both those assembly things in the Managed Folder which replaced the vanilla ones. Then once it stopped working I made a Mod folder and put those in there
I tried starting the game to make sure nothing had broke and it already did
I think that means I’ve installed the API right?
Again I haven’t modded this before so I’m not %100 sure how this works

I had an idea for replacing Godseeker mode with a NG+ mode of sorts, with most loot drops replaced by relics or other such items. I would have no trouble with teaching myself the code, but is that possible within the API's boundaries (without a great deal of trouble) i.e. replacing dropped items, and such)?

Hi, I'm a bit new to HK modding, and I can't seem to get Ultimatum Radiance working properly. I have the modding API installed. Got some other mods, (like Mantis Gods) working fine! But there seems to be something wrong with Ultimatum Radiance. Aside from rarely summing 2 pillars of light, she acts exactly like normal Absolute radiance. The new, modded title card also shows, so I am pretty sure I put the .dll in the right place? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Literally just follow the steps for mac
The installer is an exe, and Mac doesn't like that
Which is why these steps are needed
Otherwise, just learn how to copy and paste files, then you could just do it all manually

sorry! so I run ModInstaller.exe, check the box next to the mod I'm trying to install (Debug) , click OK on the pop-up asking if I want to install the mod, and then when I load the game .. nothing..

some enemies are a bit weird
they don't die
they just get despawned and reused

is it a thing that happens more often with later enemies?

oh i like how the explody bats "die" at full health
does it? does hp bar use flat values and the changes from scaling mess it up?
i could try build it without any scaling at all and see if that does anything
even removing the scaling still makes them linger

I am back with a weird issue I brought up several months ago
this time I have only the modding API and mod common installed, and hitting certain things that "tink" cause a massive, permanent drop in fps
the room I've been testing is pogoing up the vertical spikes before the miniboss below the path to greenpath just below dirtmouth. (the miniboss drops a mask shard)
previously hitting the banker in the pleasure house caused the same issue iirc
but that was with several mods installed
anyway... I previously reinstalled the game through GoG and did not have the issue. then installed just the modinstaller base mods and this issue happened

Reflection type load is pretty ridiculously slow and it looks like in the logs it's trying to do that a lot

I've found where the assets are stored, but there seems to be less than in the sprite dump I found earlier. Specifically, atlas0_261 and atlas1_2 seem to be missing.
There's just a bunch of "atlas0"s and "atlas0 material"s, and none of them have the Path ID that matches the suffix of the sprite files I found.

that's because dnspy is dumb.
it's decompiling code that has already been compiled, allowing it to be readable,
but the dumb thing is that when attempting to edit code and recompile it,
dnspy checks for errors that would occur when initially compiling it,
and since the format changes after decompiling, it detects errors that don't matter because it's already been compiled
is my understanding of it anyway
also it might try to automatically format something when saving an edit, which breaks it
i learned this when attempting to edit the blocking-from-direction code
dnspy completely broke the format
and the game would crash the moment the code was used

nope. but you can equip lifeblood core and lifeblood heart for a little more protection
but note that the overcharm makes lifeblood half as effective

Anyone can help me with extracting sprites from the game? I tried looking it up but in short, all I found was a program called Unity Asset Bundle Extractor, which then I need to pick a file to extract sprites from (I guess).

I don't know which files and I don't know if that's the program I should use since I remember extracting sprites a long time ago, probably with a different program
If you want the individual sprites use asset studio. If you want tk2d sprites I uploaded a program somewhere in modding that can view and extract them individually. Otherwise just extract the spritesheet and crop them out yourself
If you need to add assets back into the game, UABE is your man
But for exporting then, I find asset studio to be easier

I moved hollow knight to my ssd disk and now I can't run modinstaller since the game has moved ("unable to locate game files" error dialog). Is there any config I can delete and start over or do I have to move the game back?
