Yes, mods can be installed on a mac.
You can use the installer
To run the installer:

Open the Terminal
Type mono --arch=32
Drag the exe onto the terminal and then hit Return/Enter

If this fails with bash: mono: command not found, install mono here

So. Obviously, I reload the game whenever I enable/disable a mod.

I was trying to get Custom Knight to work, and once it finally did (I was using the Demon sprite), the sprite was inverted.

So I reloaded the game to check if it would fix itself, and the game doesn't launch anymore.

InvertKnight was disabled the whole time.

and as for @crimson bane the API is only built for the newest version of the game and you'd have to build it manually for an older one if you really want to so no mods won't work for it.

I am now awake and can troubleshoot again. @real jacinth I took the sprites and put them into Hollow Knight - hollow_knight_Data - Managed - Mods, where there was a CustomKnight folder with sprites in it.

Changes your cloak white by default. You have to move new assets to that folder if you want to change it more

Just tested with debug mod for checking, bonfire mod's strength or INT stats does not affect redwing's dash and fire pillar (focus).....that's disapointing

Redwing is "designed to work with other total overhaul mods, including Lightbringer and Blackmoth" not just blackmoth....FYI I tested Lightbringer+Redwing in clean save with no bonfire.
