use ddark if you're put into a situation which you absolutely cant dodge.

as for healing, it can be a little bit tricky. my best advice for healing in general is dont heal if you're going to instantly get hit, because you're wasting soul. its much easier to heal when theres only one knight active, so after you've killed one you can heal as much as possible||

idk how helpful that will be, but try and hopefully its a little easier
