I rewrote it to run 1000 times less often and got rid of the string compare and nothing broke

if you stretch a rubber band by 2 and then by 6, it's the same as stretching it by sqrt(12) twice

regardless your spikes feel like 2x more reliable
also the background removal is god
basically KDT's complaint was that he thought the fire and floor were on the same plane: z =0. in reality the floor is at z = -0.1 so all you have to do is always set the spikes to somewhere between 0 and -0.1 and it fixes everything

i recommend the second one as you can add particles to the shoot aswell
also i cant find a good art for the guns, pixel art doesnt fit with HK at all, i just got this sprite for Rimworld

well the original thing i used was just instantiating fireballs, so the particles werent a problem because they were already added with the fireball itself

It only needs to be like on fire set var to 0 and increment it with time (or use time.time - recoiltime), figure out a function or 2 that spikes high at a low value and then slowly goes back to 0 at 1, then use that curve to set the y position of the gun
Then make x move randomly when you shoot, and rotate it on z axis randomly

Guns don't recoil (atleast in popular media) in a smooth motion
then use a coroutine and set up two animations in a row

You just make a new anim and attach to an object, open the animator window and hit record
Move the keyframe around, then just position stuff how you want it on that frame
yeah, the only two weird things you might need to know about are the curves and how the transitions work
specially for non blended transitions
