Well, I already made sockets work in game, so multiplayer is quite possible
what you're doing is really cool and completely beyond me.
syncing all the health / attacks and shit might be a bit harder
you just copy all the objects of the host into the clients. Pretty much
that's the easier way, the best way? hell no
you only need to send timestamps of (non guaranteed) state changes, with position
copying the objects won't even work

you send the packet and the client apply it with the packet it receives

you could make a server where you turn off all the graphics and just handle physics and events that would send to clients
it'll be halfway through that attack but at the start of the animation
and hitboxes are linked to animations
the other players would look weird if there was lag but the important thing is the game would be playable and the enemies would look normal for both
maybe the server is the thing that reports the health bars of enemies to the clients
you still can use the animation system without the graphics if you replace the sprites
so that your coop friend can't hit an enemy through weird lag
just copy the code from multiplayer online games
also make the sprites of allies ghostly like in souls games so that you don't notice weirdness as much
players are the easiest thing

So much that PvP mode would be the most possible for a multiplayer mode in HK

but if enemies are picking attacks based on player states it means there's no way for a client to predict which attack an enemy would do
unless you rewrote the enemy to pick attacks in a different way
because maybe lets say an enemy picks attacks based on player 1. and you're player 2. if you lag, player 1 might be in a different position and so your predictive thing will predict that enemy does a different attack than it actually does.
for example
PV does empty hops sometimes rarely when you're in a dumb spot
and maybe lag causes player 2 to think player 1 is in that spot and so PV does an empty hop
just send next attack instead of current attack ๐ค
but on p1's screen PV does a different attack
my point is the traditional ways online games do lag compensation wouldn't work for HK because of this
you'd get quickly desynced and resyncing according to KDT is kinda impossible
because animation weirdness
the best would be the server send the animation and it's frame plus location so the clients would just apply those without actually calculating things
so what happens if you lag for 1 second and get no new information in that time

look all I'm saying is online multiplayer has LOTS of problems with regards to keeping both clients on the same page and if your game isn't BUILT around anticipating these problems then it will fail.

even games designed around coop like payday 2 run into these issues but for HK it would be much worse since enemies react to players in very large obvious ways
an enemy moving 5 feet because of a player's position in a shooter is much less of a problem than an enemy choosing an entirely different attack that covers the screen
Disabling the AI in clients would be the solution for that
you're just pushing the problem one level down
the clients need to know what attacks the enemies are gonna do before the server sends the info
or else people will get hit by unfair BS attacks when they drop packets
and HK wasn't built to allow that to happen
you receive from the server which animation is playing and it's frame position, or whatever it have
so you will be synced with the server
ofc you would recieve that info but what I'm saying is after the animation is done
and the server chooses another attack
and if you were to lag right there
you could easilly be hit with no way to react
tc are really helpful to their modding/speedrunning communities just ask them to recode the game for multiplayer
tc can't code singleplayer

there's a function in NGG that iterates over a bunch of strings every single frame that I optimized to be about 1000 times faster and run 100 times less often.
also NGG spawns duplicates of the audiance and heart etc.
