.. in any case, you have my arbitrary vote to add a way to unlock the randomizer my marking the game as completed from the menu..
There is a pre-existing screen before starting the game to select mode and I just hijacked that for randomizer settings
That's in the version I uploaded for the other guy above

I think it shouldn't just start out completed just because you start it up with the mod though.. I feel there should be a dialog upon first start to let the player know the mod does, or can depending on how you implement it, bypass a first vanilla playthrough
that is a more work of course... but that's my 2 cents

If you're installing randomizer mod, you kinda sacrifice your "no spoilers pls" status. Including unlocking game modes.

all I know is, I built it with hooks and my game stopped launching. And the fix was as stupid as the problem.
What was the fix? Seems like I missed it ๐
manually deleting the mods folder and verifying the game integrity caused the game to SIGABRT as soon as I installed the hooks (all other mods were ok)
reinstalling the game by uninstalling it through steam's right-click uninstall and then reinstall and then copying over the hooks fixed it
Ah, okay :) I'm still wondering what could've caused it in the first place, though, but glad to hear that it's fixed

I beat them extremely fast, got a hit in almost 100% of the time when it was possible, and I'm pretty sure I didn't use any spells either
But the elephant in the room here is the fact I literally no-hit the mantis gods 56 buffed for the exact purpose that I no-hit the old ones
spells are pretty useless against them since they move too fast

I was trying to figure out why my poe was taking 30 seconds per room to load
and it was in 200,000+ fragments
yeah I aint running anything to fix this
the estimated time to fix it was something like 1000 hours
once when I was on Windows 7, one of the star craft 2 files got itself into about as many fragments
and the windows defrag refused to fix it
I had to plug in a usb stick
copy the file over
copy it back
it was like a 2GB game data file

this is what happens when you don't defrag a 95% full 1.5TB harddrive for 10years
and you repeatedly delete like 200gb of it whenever it gets close to full

Hey, I'm super new to modding and kinda new to programming. I'm trying to make a mod for hollow knight as an intro to unity, can anyone help me figure out ilspy, and reflexil, and am i even supposed to be using them, thanks!
we use dnspy which is a fork of ilspy made by someone awesome whose in this channel and who makes tools for modding unity games.
and as for modding your best bet is to look into the modding api which adds hooks to the game that can be used to "easily" mod stuff.
there's a few example mods in the modding api source code folder
but uh... I wouldn't recommend modding HK as an intro to unity
yeah you'll possibly learn a lot about unity if you're building custom game object. But it's all done in C# and not in editor and also there's a lot of hacking with a certain API that shall be unnamed to get stuff working

My integration with sharp shadow is done through the very hacky code of making the dash also move you an extra 1/50000 the distance it normally would (for a total of a probably unmeasurable 50001/50000 the normal length). If this is unacceptable I can make another PR which changes slightly more code but implements it in a much less hacky way. And also I made your mod instance and one bool public so I don't need reflection.
I anticipate between 0 and 1 final sets of patches after this to fully integrate the two mods. Depending on if I need to fix some of the null refs caused by your mod or not.

so if you have code which relies on a namespace in a different function then the namespace can just not exist so long as the function is never called but if the namespace doesn't exist in the current function it errors

to install lightbringer again

uh @solemn rivet sharpShadowFSM.SetState("Idle"); which is the fix doesn't need to be run when grubberfly is on. I tested 'tinking' with grubberfly and it didn't break anything so I figure it's not needed. This is good because if you have grubberfly on and haven't dashed regularly at least once since loading the game then sharpShadowFSM will not have yet been properly set causing a null ref.
notice I'm checking that equippedCharm_35 is not set

an alternative but valid solution would be surrounding that in a try catch or explicitly checking that it's not null
but since you already had the if statement for grubberfly I figured I'd just use that.

Currently it seems like, but it's hard to be 100% sure since i don't have my highend computer anymore. I lose my invulnerability at low framerates.
like really low framerates, maybe around 15 fps or less

I wouldn't worry about it too much for now. I can try and confirm it later in the future
as in possibly later today
but if it's happening I can also send a pretty easy simple fix.
