okay, I have set up a new save for my mod and I can add variables to it similar to SetupNewPlayerData(), but I can't change those variables later on... That is, if newVar is a variable in ModData() and I change it during the game, it doesn't save the new value when I sit on a bench/save & quit
Yeah I think the game only saves the fsm and a few(couple hundred I'd expect) extraneous variables.
Though you could just save it to your own file
open an fstream and save it in whatever place you want.

@solemn rivet you need to change the GameManager.SaveGame and GameManager.LoadGame functions, they serialize a class called SaveGameData iirc
you need to change that class to include your extra vars you want to save
(or create a copy and add it to that)

I was not setting up GetSaveStatsForSlot properly
it currently creates a save file named, say, user1.datmod, but it wasn't updating the game's variables with the ones on the save file
hmm GetSaveStatsForSlot, is just for the overview on the save select screen

yeah, sometimes it wouldn't save at all, but I managed to fix that
but I still couldn't find a way to load variables stored in a save file
I mean, I can load them via LoadGame
but that doesn't overwrite the current values on ModData (mod's equivalent of PlayerData)

for instance, I have a statStr var which is set to 1 on SetupNewModData, and I can increment it during gameplay, but when I save and reload, it gets reset to 1

You can't add things to PlayerData, but you can make the game save things that aren't in PlayerData

so, can anyone help me with this: in my class, when I reference PlayerData as this.PlayerData.whatever the game gives me an error, but if I reference it as PlayerData.instance.whatever, it works fine
I have set up a PlayerData field inside my class btw
and it's not only playerdata... No matter what class I reference directly gives me this error (be it GameManager, HeroController,...)

for the geo/level ratio I actually got the souls/level ratio for Dark Souls 3, fit a polynomial into it, and used that
so, once again, since geo/progression in HK does not necessarily equal souls/progression in DS3, I have no idea how balanced that is
plans for the future include a Int stat (which is already in the cod) which should raise spell damage
but I don't know how that works yet, so I decided to leave it out for now

with the same damageDealt fsm variable
as for geo/progression you could have certain areas multiply geo
i.e. if your in greenpath each geo is worth 1x, but in queen gardens its worth like 5x
that sounds interesting
I also plan on making a level up system more akin to castlevania where you level up automatically
so you would have the Gathering Swarm charm equipped by default to always pick up geo, and I would have to work out a nice stat growth pattern
also if you want to balance stats to prevent stacking one, put in diminishing returns if you already haven't

because in order in invest in str you have to not invest in anything else

but increase your damage not by a fixed amount
basically, each upgrade is a 20% increase to your total damage (that is, natural damage + str + crit + previous upgrades)
If you don't already crits should totally have some sort of visual effect
so a 20 STR with all upgrades would do...24*(1.2)^4

@solemn rivet you could put wisdom in too, and have it reduce the cost of spells
that's actually a nice alternative to the current MP stat
instead of increasing MP, decrease the costs
because increasing MP is actually pretty ugly
the main bottleneck is gathering rather than storing anyway

also the gui persists while in inventory on a bench so that's kind of annoying
on gui is slow if you use textures, Im pretty sure unity doesn't load them onto the gpu until it actually renders them

Nail Damage set to (4 + Strength) x (1.2 ^ Upgrades) is what they do apparently atm
although I recommended to swap it around

if you want to invest it all into Dex... You'll not be getting 20 Dex anytime soon
for now, it's very simple
it just scales attack_cooldown according to Dex in a logarithmic fashion
and those calculations are made after checking for quickslash

is 45% chance of 1.7x damage which is only like 30% bonus damage

KDT: I managed to make a very nice spd(dex) function
it's logistic, so it has amazing diminishing returns
like, after 20 Dex you basically don't get any faster
spd(1)=1, spd(10)=1.5 and spd(20)=2 are the base points
you could probably use the fotf effect for crits

Another issue is that soulGain sounds like something that would also be called with dream nail hits, so wouldn't implementing the check there mean that the dream nail would also give that sound when used on every enemy? Or does dream nail use a different function?

as it is, it runs CharmUpdate() and UpdateBlueHealth() everytime you click "confirm"
so, from what I get, it should just give you the masks if you have enough stats

but the Resilience stat gives blue masks, not normal masks

Debug Mod: I don't know, presumably provides a lot of information while playing the game
HP Bars: self-explanatory, enemies get health bars
Save Anywhere: also self-explanatory
Screenshots Mod: removes the UI

display information on pretty much every variable on the player
shows every enemy on the map, and their health
shows a console with events that have happened
buttons for:
hazard points
cheats
unlock charms
unlock skills
add items
respawn bosses
set dreamgates
Most are for speedrunners to practice sections I think
