twice after dashing into them I had issues
first time I couldn't deal any damage, second time it was dealing 1 damage

I had similar issues during my playthrough with Blackmoth. Occasionally, when I took damage the dash would no longer hurt enemies or break anything. I found it to be most easily replicable on Dung Defender and White Defender, since taking damage at all during those fights forced me to resort to magic.
I noticed it seemed to always happen with infection seeds
I had to brute force the mawlek cause man I was not willing to reload

Just reload a few times. It broke when I equipped too, fortunately all your ails with Blackmoth can be cured by turning it off and on again a few times.

The nail barely even scratches the enemies' health pools, so it's not like it matters a ton.

and most of the mods can't be installed at the same time as one another
unless you combine the changed code into the same assembly file

Lifeseeds consistently bugged the damage, maybe try looking into those? They'be caused it to both do 1 damage and no damage. When I am on my computer I'll install the one with damage numbers and look into it a little

there probably is some roundabout way to make dash do 0 damage and then on collision do intended damage, so the overall effect is that "dash dealt damage"

what I first tried was to set damage to full damage as the first line of HeroDash() which is basically the "do the dash" method, while it set damage to 1 on the first line of Attack()
this didn't work (for some reason)
now what I did was set damage to full if dash is/was pressed, and damage to 1 if attack is/was pressed
this seemed to work for me
I don't see why changing parts of the method would have that issue
what happened before was that it worked fine... Until you either died or reset the game
after that, you'd be stuck with 1 damage forever

Well I was just thinking because both dying/resetting puts you on a bench. Although it could just be issues with loading the character after death or something.

There's a spa that acts as the hub for the Boss Rush, and you dream gate to teleport from boss and back to the hub where you can purchase various upgrades (charms, damage, health, etc)

Also: I've got an early build of a randomizer mod if anyone wants to try it. Currently it is semi-randomly swapping around all of the pickups in this pastebin: https://pastebin.com/m2bnL093. Every randomization is seeded so save&quit does not mess anything up, and there is checks in the randomization to prevent soft locks, even if not using glitches
There is less strict requirements in steel soul, which can lead to some pretty cancer stuff required. I'll add an actual in game selection for that mode later

This might be too much to ask, but is it possible to create randomizer seeds which minimize glitchless skips? Cause tbh, I'm not comfortable with most of the glitchless skips that I've seen in the NMG speedruns.
Sort of similar to the "casual" level of randomizer that the Ori randomizer uses.
That's pretty much what playing in classic mode does
Only thing you might have to do there is shade skip, I think, which is really not that bad
Explosion pogo, crystal heart without dash, fireball skip into fungal wastes should all be steel soul only, and still pretty rare even then
I do want to randomize spells as well but that's gonna be a big hassle because they're stored as ints

Also not much point because you need either fireball or dive to get through the fireball tutorial and you need dive to get through the dive tutorial

The problem with those is the image in the shop is still of the charm it's supposed to be, meaning you're spending geo blindly

I did GPZ 10 without elegy also
I currently have no saves with shade cloak...
elegy isn't that good for fights
it's very easy to get hit, and then the effect is gone

You can not.
Mods almost all directly affect the Assembly.dll file which makes them all incompatible with one another. We don't have a common API for accessing Assembly.dll indirectly right now so mods are incompatible unless they're only affecting assets like sounds and textures.

I don't think it'd be SUPER hard to make an API for it, but I certainly don't know how to go about it, and anyone that does probably has a better use of their time.

In theory it'd just be [modder scripts] talking to [API] which modifies [Assembly.dll]. The API would just have to be able to code inject and then be able to spit out warnings that files are injecting into simlar locations, which would then need to be worked around each other on a case by case basis.
It's not super complicated but it's also not easy or fun for most people.

That's why the mods we do have tend to be fairly significant in terms of changes. Debug mod does a LOT of stuff because it's the only mod when people use it. Light Bringer changes just about everything. Blackmoth modifies all the charms that become useless with its mechanic changes. My mod's going to do the same if I ever get around to it. These are all big changes. Any mod that just changes the value of one charm or damage of something or gives infinite jumps or something like that are usually gateway mods that modders make just to get into modding.
Yeah it certainly doesn't seem to be worth it, especially considering how few mods there are and that they don't necessarily work well together
TL;DR for anyone that you wanna talk about this with is: This isn't Minecraft/Skyrim. It's not a modular system. Don't expect modular mods.

With different modes/settings to determine if important things are exempt, placed only in areas that can be access without them, or completely randomized

But yeah, right now it randomizes movement abilities and non-shop charm locations
The randomization assumes glitchless for item reachability. Hard mode allows things like fireball skips and shade skip to be required to progress, easy does not
this is the second time I played all the way through boss rush and then softlocked at radiance
