I have a modding question actually
would it be even possible to mod in a new charm that replaces one of your spells with the final form of Hollow Knight during the end of the radiance boss battle?
the art assets are already in the game
as in it summons an entire hollow knight?
that sounds cool, like they lash with long-range for a few seconds?

This tool will let you open up Assembly-CSharp.dll, allowing you to modify actual code. The .dll file is found in Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed
you'll probably need to know a little C#

You can get them, but you certainly won't be able to create anything new with them
maybe if there's enough interest, someone else will make the mod

retextures like that need to be close to the original, so they can't be any bigger by the original sprite even by just a little

it'll get put on but you'll take double damage

Sounds like a 3 or 4 notch charm to me, not exactly possible to mod right now though

It really makes a minimal difference though
15% is a lot for something that important

Think of it like jousting, if your lance is 10% longer than your opponents, you'll always hit first if you extend it
I think visually longnotch is less than 15, though?
And that comparison is only viable if you're fighting against an opponent who's otherwise identical

since it needs to update what the charm returns

You can only change charms on a bench, so I think it's bench related
But then it would have to run this command all the time while sitting

i used the extractor and im going through the audio files of the game. there's one song called The White Defender that's just so beautiful and epic and amazing, but i dont remember what part of the game it's from, if it's even there at all

If a charm sets something to 1 it needs to set the damage back to what it used to be in the else statement
all that information might get fucked up by things like fragile strength too

yeah what I'm trying to avoid is infinite damage scaling by equipping fragile strength, sitting on the bench, then equipping nail damage 1 where it saves your old damage

To edit the method, are you right clicking it and selecting "edit method"?
To reaffirm, you're opening up HeroController then right clicking the section containing CharmUpdate(), then hitting Edit Method (C#)?

I can't find where nail damage is upgraded, and if you get a nail upgrade while you have the 1 damage nail charm equipped, it ruins your game

@alpine cloak the charm is complete. Damage is reduced to 1 but soul gain is increased by a lot.

Like, is there a possibility for some online 1vs1 pvp action?

The possibilities are climbing, but I doubt we'll ever see any form of multiplayer
but what we can do is change charms, how certain attacks work, and textures.
I made the main character fire ranged lances instead of sword swipes, I made a charm shoot lances behind you while firing forward, and I made a charm that fires two lances at once.
I'm currently working on a charm that costs geo per attack but enhances your attack in some way
I think I actually could make KingSoul recover HP

and since I can only use one set of textures, it'd be limited to those two attacks

if you don't get mantis claw early you lose
You can get doublejump early, which opens other ways. Crystal dash could stay out of the pool I guess.

Bulkier enemies who all deal double their current damage. 4 damage by fallen champion would be ridiculous

For bulkier, I'd just calculate a lower nail damage at the beginning of every attack

If all of the enemies are part of the current area, then you could add an enemy and put it way off screen
Then the summon command could move that enemy from off screen right next to you

TakeHealth() sets your health to zero
nice! So you just override the original method and hide the health bar
that's very clean
Technically you have a normal HP bar and every hit does no damage
it just hard-sets you to dead
so you don't have to deal with special considerations like getting mask upgrades
but like what does it appear to do as the player

and when I tried again I could never find anything that dnSpy didn't let me reach
