I think animators usually animate characters that have capes or cloaks without the cape first. Then, when they're finished, they'd add it back in to better know how they should have the cape move in reaction to the character's motion

normally i go through a whole digitalization thing for a more “official look” but some of my best early art was done pencil and paper so i’ve been revisiting those roots lol.

in truth, all of my digital art starts as pencil sketches too that i then line over digitally, but i’ve started to put less and less effort into the pencil when doing those. so i wanted to focus on it again and have been experimenting :p
