i have no idea if this is possible within the limitations of ONI's modding api, but i would love to see a mod that lets certain buildings accept semisolid tiles like ladders as foundation!
this would only apply to a few buildings, mostly small and light things. since duplicants can walk on ladders, things around that same weight (or lighter) should naturally be able to be supported by them too, no?
maybe there could be some kind of "weight capacity" system, like the "terrain requirement" system in rimworld, that allows the different types of semisolids to support different buildings depending on their strength? that'd be going above and beyond, though
another way this mod could go even further is by adding some kind of "platform" or "shelf" tile which acts like a ladder but can't be climbed (aside from ways any other tile can be climbed).
this would be a cool feature for a couple reasons, but i got the idea because i thought about a greenhouse with an upper "shelf" of planter boxes. you can do this in vanilla with tiles, but it'd be ugly and inaccessible from below.
