What if there was a starting biome that hovered around the condensation point of oxygen while not being horribly unbalanced? This is my idea.

The cryogenic biome is home to unique plants and critters that make it difficult, but not insanely difficult to survive.

Solid tiles:
Sedimentary rock
Iron Ore
Mercury
Carbon Dioxide
Oxylite
Dirt (small amounts)
Ice
Sand

Liquids:
None

Gases:
Oxygen
Hydrogen (in pockets)

Plants:
Wheezeworts
An equivalent of muckroot/hexalent
A new food plant

  • Needs CO2 as fertilisation
  • produces the same amount of food as a bog bucket
  • food can be cooked for a quality increase to +1
  • temp range: 60K to 100K

Critters:
Icy slug

  • cold plug slug
  • eats mercury
  • temp range: 0K to 200K comfortable range: 70K - 170K

Some other things would need to be changed as well, like the super computer accepting ice and other things like that.

Additionally, This would work quite well with 3 new geysers:
Liquid H2 geyser: emits nearly frozen Hydrogen
Liquid O2 geyser: same, emits nearly
Frozen Oxygen
Mercury volcano: emits room temperature mercury

So something like 100k but with a bunch of extra low-temp support?

I'd love to see this.
