I have basically the same opinions as you. When I read it, most of the time it felt very weird and the characters were not themselves, but after reaching the end I felt that I'd enjoyed reading it, though I wasn't sure at what point. Very strange story ||(but hey, at least it has one major character death that still hasn't been resurrected to this day)||
