While most players know how to trade and stay safe doing so, many new players struggle to get the hang of it and are more vulnerable than veteran traders. Here is a quick-start guide to help you begin your trading journey.
Before you even buy your first credits, you must understand that unfortunately, scammers do exist, and will try to take advantage of you eventually. Please read this Rocket League Exchange Reddit post, outlining ways in which scammers may attempt to steal your items or credits. The more informed you are, the safer you will be. You can access this link at any time by typing ~guide in any channel. It is recommended to record every trade you do, just in case.

The in-game currency of Rocket League is called "Credits"
, and serves as the foundation in which everything can be bought or sold. You can buy credits through the item shop at any time, but they will have a 3-day cooldown before you can use them. "Keys"
were the predecessor of Credits, and the conversion rate between them is 1
= 100
. New accounts created after Free-To-Play launched are trade locked until you buy 500 credits. Older accounts will not have this limitation.
Note 1: As of patch v1.94, a new Player Trading Eligibility system has come into effect. Please read this article to learn whether your account is activated or restricted in any way: https://www.rocketleague.com/news/patch-notes-season-3-update/
Note 2: 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) is required to begin trading. You must have your Rocket League account linked to an Epic Games account, have a verified email associated with the account, and have 2FA enabled. This article contains links explaining what 2FA is, how to verify your email, and how to enable 2FA on your account:

Blueprints serve as the successor to Crates, which were an RNG based system; blueprints are the "unbuilt" versions of the item that it displays, and can be "built" at any time to obtain and use the item contained within the blueprint. Each blueprint has a "crafting cost" depending on its rarity (uncommon -> Black Market), and may cost more depending on whether it is a painted variant. These blueprints can be traded as stand-alone items, though keep in mind that the value of the blueprints is offset by the market value of the built item. E.G: Item market value is 2000cr, crafting price is 1800cr, therefore the blueprint value is 2000 - 1800 = 200cr. Not all blueprints hold value.
Each platform has its own trading ecosystem, and prices can vary wildly depending on which one of these platforms you are on. Our partners at Rocket League Insider are a reputable source of pricing information, and all item prices (even platform specific prices) are visible through their website https://rl.insider.gg/. You can access this link at any time by typing !price in any channel.
Alternatively, you can use our pricing channels #trading-prices-pc #trading-prices-psn #trading-prices-xbox #trading-prices-switch to see the price of individual items, their painted variants, and entire sets of items. For example, you could go to the PC pricing channel and type !price Fennec all to get the prices of all Fennec variants. It is recommended that you follow the market value of tradable items to prevent price-gouging, price-manipulation, scams, and many other rare, but nasty tactics.
Enthusiasm is great, but sit tight for just a few more moments. Once you understand and accept everything above this, to use our trading platform effectively, it is expected that you format your trades properly. No one will trade with you if you just ask "Trade?", and your post will automatically be removed due to improper formatting. To ensure the best results while trading, your prices must be acceptable or attractive to any potential buyers/sellers, and your trade must be easily found. A lot of veteran traders use Discord's search function (top right corner) to look for specific items, so it's recommended to __format your trades using [H] have [W] want __.
Example:
[H] TW Octane [W] 11,000cr
[H] Stipple Gait [W] 2,000cr
[H] 12 Golden Pumpkin '20 [W] Crimson Fennec
Remember, one trade per line, 80 characters per line, 15 lines maximum, and do not repeat the same offer more than once.
