Muted players don’t have the tos mark on their accounts right?

I don’t think tos marked accounts ever play “rated” games against anyone who isn’t also tos marked

Muting clearly exists on Lichess so if you found nothing in the code you haven't looked well. There is no correlation between mute and games. If you constantly play cheaters (as in publicly displayed marked accounts) you are banned too.

why do you think Lichess needs to prove anything to you? they allow you to use their free service as long as you abide by their preset rules, they provide explanation of the rules, so you probably just owe them an apology for whatever misdeed you did that earned you a mute and take their word that you aren't shadowbanned

it's not called "muting" in the code, nor in the mod UI for that matter

easiest way to look is to spin up a dev ting on github, then login as admin ( it's like 1 click for gitpod ) or check the avalilbe permissions

for example "15 min mute" would be the timeout permission iirc
