Today I was trying to setup a lichess practice account with my chess students, & we created a new email just for chess-related signups. Then, after seeing that we needed to log-in & activate the account through email confirmation, we decided it would be easier to just change the email address through the "Change email" box to a personal email, & supposedly activated the account through that email on a phone. On the laptop, however, it would still show as an un-activated account; the blue confirmation banner at the top of the website wouldn't go away and made it impossible to log-in or log-out, let alone see any of the tabs on the website!

As it turns out, I just had to F12 Inspect & delete the blue banner to reach the sign-in page and sign-in again. Then the blue confirmation banner went away. Still, not very user-friendly.
