out of curiosity, are broadcast links public somewhere for anyone to use? or are they shared privately with trusted parties like lichess?

I think it’s kinda private more for practical reasons than otherwise. Or at least historically, to avoid overloading the venue laptop for example . Today it’s sometimes private if the broadcast delay is done by Lichess and the source is live, for example . But anyone who makes an app or site to watch broadcast could and would probably be given the link by most organizers, as long as they asked nicely.
