oh nvm its dan 2, maybe try getting dan 3 and see if that allows you to apply it again
i assume the situation is you cant override a higher ranked dm

oh i asked friend and they told me you can override 
that might be it but seems bit odd to have it that way. I also feel like I only started having this issue recently and it worked as expected last patch. I'll use lucky ticket on DM in upcoming masterplan anyhow

I definitely have also had cases of it not applying even without an existing deathmark on the boss but this is the only recording I had unfortunately
I'll pay more attention to it in future runs

lower rank dm shouldnt be able to override higher rank dm, quickest way you can test is bring yourself and a friend with dan 3 into~~ girg~~ feth to test

ive tested it and you cannot override a dan 3 death mark with a rank 1 death mark, your case is likely the same problem
as for without existing dm i cant tell you anything until there is a vid with boss hp bar proving there isnt a death mark up
