Summary:
The icon for the Handicraft skill is a Hand, holding some sort of tool.
That basically makes sense for a "Handicraft" skill icon, but the tool itself is nonsense.

What is it?
A toothbrush behind held backwards?
A primitive axe head (also being held backwards), but using a plastic-looking handle?

It should be changed to something better.

Difficulty:
Low.
Barely noticeable.
And yet, when you do notice it, it gnaws at you.

Occurrence:
Always.
It's been this way for over 13 years.

if you look at a handicraft kit, the handle looks like it might be a match.
but we dont know what the tool itself would be.

#

but the most crucial clue, comes from the wiki

#

the icon was changed between 2009 and 2012

#

the old icon clearly, showing that the red bit, and the grey bit, are two different tools.
and that the grey tool had a brown handle, which was lost when the icon was revamped.

The game actually has had an event make that toothbrush joke in-game a while back...

In the original Skill Icon, the metal object is a Wood Carving Chisel. The red handle could be to a number of objects- maybe a paint-brush or a drafting brush to clean wood shavings away.

Honestly the red handle has always been sort of vague.

i always figured a hammer... hard to use a chisel without a hammer

that's not a bug, also Lint, don't forget that Handicraft went through some initial changes and was first added for an event

#

specifically, you equipped this version in the off-hand and had to use manuals to make items, like the Wooden Man for the event and some fireworks

#

so yeah, there probably was an even earlier icon, I wonder if that still floats around on the web somewhere...
