Just like the drill can be switched into flatten mode, it would be nice to have a mode for the terrain manipulator to restore the default terrain with maybe a 3x3 brush size. Now that rovers are a thing again, the holes around the starter base are an annoyance to maneuver around (especially at night), and the swiss cheese-like terrain is unpleasant to look at as well.

and other modes in general would be nice, like a smooth mode, a carve mode if you have a drill or pick in the other hand (basically terrain manipulator REMOVE, not just add), "brush" sizes, etc. could make a debut first implementation of the terraforming printer too, having the dirt canister be refilled using silicon (since thats the primary inorganic non metallic component of most rocks and dirt) and eventually other "terrain" types to "paint" with. i don't know if the terrain tech supports it but maybe even a "sharpness/smoothness" setting to adjust how "square/blobby" the terrain is.
I'd settle for a sloped flatten to build a road out craters for my rover. Actually, a road building setting would be nice - flatten a rover's width and push some material up at the edges.
