#Showcase rules should be rephrased (and ideally shortened)

The current showcase rules miss the fact that you cannot repost a project (as addressed in #1492945499681067240).

Additionally, there have been multiple instances of people not putting the AI-assisted tag on their post; it only kind of hints that it is required, a bit at the top and then again at the bottom of the rules.

IMO, it would be best to more directly state the rules on AI, as well as reposting rules. I suspect people don't read the full rules due to their length (even though it's really not that long).

I wanna repost a convo between me & @shy rune from #1485678573699334174 since it was offtopic in the last thread

Would the mods be open to banning spam or slop grade projects?

AI usage is one thing but I don't think anyone finds it believable that 30k diff a day was just "assisted" by AI. Even by AI company CEO levels thats really high.

I would strongly be for that. A total ban seems unreasonable and hard to enforce imo

I agree but so far people:

  • Aren't aware of the tag (can be solved)
  • Don't want to use the tag (not really solvable)

Like AI assisted is fine, but nobody can convince me 30k LOC a day is a feasible number while not producing complete garbage. I am referring to the kind of projects where the person who posted it is barely aware of what they "created".

I am not saying we should ban projects that use AI but its often very obvious that a project is complete slop. A common property of these people are:

  • Recently joined
  • Github activity starting at 2026

A pinned post in #1120122747348058263 would be great for specific rules for that channel.

Can you pin posts in thread channels?

yes, but I doubt a pinned post would get more visibility than the posting rules that are right around the new-post field

There was one case I remember where someone didn't know about the posting rules

I find the Tauri showcase channel is filled to the brim with only slop. I don't think all AI-assisted projects are bad, because I've found a few that I actually love, but I think stricter regulations would be a good thing to prevent here from becoming like the Tauri server.

Maybe this was better posted in the other suggestion? I dunno, it's kinda related.

I didn't know there were rules in topics until someone showed a print of what the rules button is

I also forgot it existed because most servers just pin a post containing the rules instead of using it.

the only other server I frequent that uses it doen't worry about it because it's relatively small

We should probably do both

that's a good idea
