As long as you don't actually run the jar file you "should" be safe. But like Xorium said, for added safety do everything in a virtual machine (or even better, a different computer that you don't care about and that's not connected to the internet).
If it's obfuscated, you will need to deobfuscate it somehow. Either manually or using a tool if there is one.

A quick way to spin up a virtual machine is to use windows sandbox. It does require windows pro or registry hacks to enable, but it's a convenient built-in temporary VM
