You could have spells that have effects or circumstances but lower damage. Like for example... “ignite: puts a burn on the target with a three round damage over time” you could also use it like a poison, you could have something like “weaken: cut the damage done by the enemy down by 20% for 3 rounds” you could end up using a drain sort of spell that attaches to the enemy and steals their health while giving it to you

Could also use spells to buff up attacks for next outgoing damage or more powerful spells that require an event like you must have a+b to use this item

Idk what any of these cards do but one that also predicts the enemies moves (if you can’t see the enemies cards) you can put out that spell and they need to turn their cards around to show you what they have call it “foresight” or something
