I always wondered why the lyrics to Bandito were "I could take the high road, but I know that I'm going low. I'm a Bandito".

Why would they say that if they are the good guys? Now with them taking over the bishops spots, it all makes sense. So was it a warning to us years beforehand that they would turn evil?

While we're on the topic, there's alot of lyrics to that song that just dont make sense to me...
"In city, I feel my spirit is contained. Like neon inside the glass they form my brain. But I've recently discovered it's a heatless fire, like nicknames they give themselves to uninspire" Talking about the bishops and the neon gravestones?

I love this song, it's in my top 3 for sure.

When I first heard the lyrics, I wondered the same as you. But now I think "I know that I'm going low" represents the Banditos' status as rebels. They live in the wilds and have to keep their heads down so the Bishops, and possibly any of the other hazards on the island, don't find them. I don't believe the line predicts the Banditos who chose to join Clancy at the end.

I've wondered about the ones who made that choice, though. My opinion is, they didn't go in there expecting to make that decision. They trusted Clancy to lead them. They trusted his ability and his decisions because he was basically their chosen one. The one they all thought would free Dema. So even when he became a Bishop they followed him, likely still trusting that he had a plan. Or maybe they simply succumbed to their own personal demons. We know overcoming Nico was almost impossible because even Clancy failed.

Anyway! As for your question, I think you're right. I interpreted it the same way. Not sure about the nicknames, but I assume he also meant the Bishops. "Began with Bullet, now add Fire to the proof." Maybe nicknames the Bishops gave themselves to seem more fearsome.

I love the lore and will drop pretty much anything to obsess over it, hahaha

"I COULD take the high road" meaning he could free the city of Dema

#

"But I know that I'm going low" meaning he's going to defeat Nico and the bishops BUT then he'll take over (as seen in City Walls MV)

“Began with bullet now add fire to the proof” is the metaphorical way of saying find a purpose for living and don’t take your life away. Bullet like an actual bullet used by some… fire as mentioned before is purpose and your will to live. The “to the proof” part is a play on words bulletproof and fireproof, I forgot where I was going with that but yea lol.
Bullets to fire is like guns for hands turning guns into fists. To fight for your life and create a burning desire to live.
