I made this theory last year when I am clancy first dropped, within it he mentioned the fact the bishops rule a hijacked religion. Focus on the words “Hijacked”, Vialisim as we know it currently is corrupted and altered, it’s not the same as it was originally. And this was again repeated in I am Torchbearer.

Now at this point it’s practically agreed on that Clancy will become a bishop, thus continuing the cycle of vialism. HOWEVER, I personally think he’s going to yes, continue the cycle, but alter it ever so slightly.
He will take down Nico and become the one sole bishop, the Nova Bishop, and he will be a bishop of the original Vialisim.

THIS NEXT PART IS LEAK TERRITORY, DONT CLICK IF YOU CARE ABOUT LEAKS 🚨🚨🚨

It was confirmed that Clancy becomes a bishop in one of the leaked pieces of merch 👍👍👍

also i’d like to add that from a mental heath standpoint this also makes sense
instead of giving up or running away from your problems, you instead transform them into something else
in a way accepting them

As someone who grew up in a household with no religion, something that's so beautiful that we often ignore within the lore is its reflections on the real world. A huge part of what makes Tyler and Josh great as people is that they're wholly inclusive and progressive, because through their personal faith, they know that's the right thing. Religion in our world is a simple way to explain the unexplainable and give meaning to kindness and death. Churches, holy books, and cults hijack those concepts, of people who either did or did not exist, and warp those meanings into real world conservatism, censorship, and attacks on anyone they don't see as "pure" and exist as a way to make money and skirt real world problems. The subversive beauty of the DEMA storyline is that it shows that those stolen structures and cycles can be broken, meaning can be given back to death and kindness, and faith is personal, whether it's a faith in something beyond yourself, or it's a collective community of outcasts who believe in one another. What has been hijacked can be burned down, crafted into something else, or given deeper meaning. I hated all religion for so long, and still don't believe in a biblical higher power, but I believe in empathy, kindness, and whatever causes others to search out goodness in themselves and others, and BE good.
