#What Does Blue Mean?

So I’ve been having some conversations with people in various threads that have sparked an idea.

So we all know what the colors red and yellow represent. Red represents a knowledge of the corruption within DEMA and a will to fight/rebel against it.
Yellow represents a knowledge of the corruption within DEMA, and signals to escapees that people wearing yellow will help to hide them from the Bishops in Trench. This is cemented by the fact that the Bishops cannot see the color yellow.

But what does the color blue mean? Blue has been a very big part of TØP since the beginning, yet we’ve never really gotten a concrete answer.

Currently the most common meaning for the color blue is defeat. This comes from a tweet from Blurryface that translates to: Blue is a sign of defeat. Wear blue and I’ll leave your people alone.

After this tweet, Tyler wore a blue jumpsuit on stage and Blurryface deleted all of his tweets. The clique at large took this to mean that blue is a sign of defeat. But what exactly does that mean?

#

I think that blue is a sign of self-sacrifice. Someone who wears blue is sacrificing themselves to Blurryface’s/DEMA’s influence to spare those around them from it. This would fit with what happened in 2016. Blurryface said “Wear blue and I’ll stop tormenting your tormented fleet”. Tyler wore a blue jumpsuit on stage and BF deleted all his tweets. HOWEVER, Tyler still had the Blurryface paint on his neck and hands. As we know, the black paint represents the bishops’ hold on Tyler/Clancy, so clearly Blurryface still has influence on Tyler. BUT, he deleted all of his tweets, wiping his existence for us, the fans

#

This also ties into the current most-popular theory that Torchbearer is going to sacrifice himself for Clancy/the rebellion. During the Clancy Tour there is SO MUCH blue lighting on Josh throughout the whole show and various songs

The Blurryface tweet and the blue jumpsuit

TLDR: To the clique at large blue is a sign of defeat, but what kind of defeat? I think it’s a sign of self-sacrifice. Someone that wears blue is sacrificing themselves to Blurryface/DEMA’s influence to spare those around them from it. For example, Tyler wears blue on stage as a sign to Blurryface, and Blurryface deletes all of his tweets, removing his influence on us. But Tyler still had the black paint on his neck and hands, indicating that Blurryface/DEMA still has influence over Tyler

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but blue is supposed to represent giving in, letting your insecurities win. Wich is why clancy goes into a blue door during the SAI tour and why he wore a blue jumpsuit

#

Also the lore implicates that in DEMA there is a singal room with a blue door that acts sort of like a writing / observation room during SAI

I’ve never heard that explanation before but I like it

I think blue is sort like a sign of self-sacrifice. For example, when Tyler wears blue on-stage he’s signalling that he’s giving in to Blurryface/DEMA’s influence in order to spare those around him (ie. the fans) from DEMA’s influence
