I am Alex, one of the lead developers at App/y Innovations (https://applyinnovations.com.au). We are an innovative software development firm based out of Brisbane Australia. Our team has a strong focus on simplicity and lean software design. 3 months ago we secured funding for a new project and have completed 90% of the CVP user interface design featuring fun 3d animations, real time analytics and notification pipelines. We are seeking an experienced Elixir + Phoenix engineer to help kick-start our project and bring it to market over the next 6 months.

We are a team of software developers and designers with varying specializes and skill sets. We have embarked on a new project that is a fantastic fit for the Elixir and Phoenix framework. Our team has strong experience building highly available full stack systems, with a particularly strong skill set in CI/CD. We have a strong appetite to push boundaries and learn new technologies and concepts, however lack battle hardened experience running Elixir and Phoenix in production and are looking for someone to share their experience and knowledge in this area.

About the Job

We are hiring for a lead engineering role, there is no fixed salary expectation, salary will be offered based on the type of engagement desired by you (full-time, part-time, consulting)

Experience

  • elixir Minimum 2 years working on production Elixir + Phoenix stacks
  • 💸 Minimum 5 years paid software development experience (or equivalent academic work / open source contributions)
  • 🌏 Oceania/Asia timezone preferred
  • 🕔 Our team has mostly flexible working hours, however typically from 8am to 5pm GMT+10 for collaboration with the rest of the team

Skills

  • 🗣️ Strong communication skills required
  • 📱 Experience building robust responsive designs
  • phoenix Extensive experience with Phoenix and relevant concepts such as Contexts, LiveView and Meta-programming
  • 💡Knowledge of Postgres best practices for schema design, data modelling and normalization

Key responsibilities

  • 👪 Collaborating with our developers to establish an architecture for the new project
  • 📋 Recommending and establishing best practices within the team
  • 🖥️ Developing views, controllers and contexts throughout our design
  • 🎉 Collaborating with our designers to build the micro-interactions and fun UX elements into our application
  • 📊 Advise on strategy and direction for the technology and systems for the new project
