@cinder osprey
Aaalright, positive points first, you stick to the rhythm quite good, and I like your vibrato too ! 🙌
However, negative point, and not the least important, it’s off key, a lot ! (Somehow you manage to have the right key at 1:22 though… 🥲)
You probably need to sing with a voice guide I think, it will be way easier for you to memorize the patterns and adapt to it, and when it’s done enough times, you can try without vocals
On YouTube there are plenty of versions with vocal guides, but an even better trick would be to learn with a vocal remover (like this one, which is free to use, so that you can easily dose with music and voice volumes
💔
So basically singing p good but entirely wrong key? 😭
Aouch, I’m afraid, yes… 🥲
I’m curious about the way you self-teach though, because you said you did it for 1 year, how do you do it usually ?
I usually just hard focus on whatever is the biggest issue every month
At first I knew nothing of singing
But watching videos, listening to myself, talking to ppl
I learned more
Someone said I was mostly pitchy because I didn’t have breath support
So I just recently developed it last week
But it didn’t help much with staying in key it seems
💔 😭
It’s a song I like to practice to make sure I’m connecting w emotion
Extremely, extremely, hard song tho
So what I can suggest you is to mainly focus on the pitch, learning for example each part of a song (replaying a verse, then a chorus etc), and then bringing the rest after (breathing, loudness, etc)
Yikes
Wouldn’t it be more cost-effective to just hard focus relative pitch?
Drilling every song I sings’ pitch into my head sounds…
grueling
Here, first half is definitely better than what you did before, because you try to stick to the pitch
On the second half, I can tell you’re more focused on the emotions (falsetto, vibrato, singing louder etc), so pitch focus falls…but I see progress already !
Actually, learning how the singer places the notes (and basically the song key’s scale, even if you don’t recognize the notes), can set a good base if you want to add your own touch after (impro, harmonies, vibes, runs, etc), it kinda sets up the tone
Honestly, only with listening a song a couple of times in a row, your brain and your ears can immediately print patterns, so the more you dig into the songs you want to learn (with every detail, etc), the easier it will be for you to reproduce them first, and to add your touch on them secondly
I’ve heard about apps like SimpleSing that can be useful for you I think, I never tried it myself, but maybe it can suit you !
They mostly use paywalls 💔
Aouch, yes, good point 😂
Atleast my technique is fine now right?
Openers
Diction
Breath
I should be good to js hard focus pitch for a month or two
Or in this case not even rlly pitch
But keys and notes in keys
My pitch is fine
I can match to one note easily
I just can’t change and alternate between a chord
It seems
For the breathing/diction parts, yep, you’re alright, at least I wouldn’t touch it yet
- the songs you’re choosing are pretty slow, so that makes things easier for you in terms of memorizing/copying
Just to be sure though, what do you call "openers" ? I couldn’t check for a French translation 😂
Yeah…like I said before, if I listen to what you sent, I’d say that you can struggle sometimes, but because you’re focused on something else, so your voice can go too high or too low on the pitch, you first have to canalize it in my opinion
I don’t really think that learning keys or notes (even know how to read them etc) can help for that though, at least not yet, + it takes a lot of time
For me, it can be useful if you want to learn a specific key or scale, but it can often change, for example if your song has modulations, or unusual chords etc
Yo Tree!
U online rn?
Was sleeping, sorry ! 😂
Wanted to see if this was any better lol
Okay so, this puts me in a weird position to be honest 😂
Positive point, you still have the rhythm 👌
Negative point, it's still off, but somehow not only you are (most of the time) on (or close to) the right scale, but you involuntarily create a harmony, especially in the choruses
So yeah, I don't really know how to judge it compared to the last sample, but I'm curious to hear some others if you have !
i agree
ngl it takes even more skill to be able to sing in the wrong scale so consistently
If it’s on purpose, yeah, of course x)
good things don't last 🎶
This is js a test
Should be able to find the core issue
Somehow
@cinder osprey @muted mortar
Skip to like 16-19 seconds doe
oohh ping me again when u record it
Me as well 👌
oooh
Yesssirrr I tend to vocal coach peeps and just hang around
So that’s why I know catchi
Wish I had a coach :/
My favorite vocal coach even responded to me
Gave me short advice in an email
Referred me back to her booking tho
W
I’ve completely self taught pretty much the whole time tho
11 long months 😭
This is my song tho ^
Stari helped the lyrics
She was lowkey cooking
I dig it, I can see the vision, the only problem is basically recording structure like no harmonies and doubles or adlibs
Another issue is no mixing
But those are small problems
Vocal wise it’s just slight pitch inaccuracy
Ah I can always produce it later
But your tone is good
Yessirrr
Again these are just small
But again overall besides being nick picky
I dig it
Pitch is SUPER off or a little off?
Good good
Besides that man nice job
I js did a basic recording on my phone lol
There’s nothing else on it
Ty man
@cinder osprey 😭 🙏🏽
r u struggling to hit the higher notes? or is this ur singing style
Style, plus I was tryna be quiet
What u think abt this
it's actually good, although i think some parts can be improved cos it was slightly off tune or not following the rhythm
Ts should be better
