HELP

I'm trying to paint my friend for her birthday (I have 13 days and just started today) but I really need help.I haven't painted someone in a while and I feel like she looks old, her skin isn't as bright as it is in real life, she has orange/red hair naturally and the blending is bad and the eyes look creepy. I also feel like the hair doesn't fit with the skin color. BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. PLEASE HELP

Add white to skin and eyes, add a black to ur red orange to make it darker or brown

Try to add multiple colors into the hair.

So fx. Colder and warmer tones.

Just slightly add brighter colors to fx. Your base color of the hair and then a darker color.

Have multiple different colors/shades of the same color, try to use one for highlights and then one for depth!

You should only see a 3rd or half of her eyes, the reason it’s creepy is because they’re so wide!

im gonna sound like an art teacher, but trust me when i say: paint what you see, not what you think you see
put a reference you're using into an art program and colour pick! especially for the hair to help with hair + skin harmony :]

and don't be afraid to go bold with the darker colours !! it really helps brings the shadows to life!

I am painting with gouache on an actual canvas not digital 😭😭 thanknyou for the advice tho

i understand that, i just mean that you could colour pick to make the colour matching with the gouache a bit easier :D

as a reference !! i'm saying you colour pick digitally to use it as a guide for when you mix the gouache

just reference the picked colour and match it to the best of your ability

since colours may seem different to the eyes when perceived around other colours

you can isolate it digitally THEN try to mix it using it as a guide
