What is the best vocal chain to use when mixing a microphone such as the Shure SM7B or Shure MV7X using ONLY stock plugins? And what are the settings/number values I should set for each effect?

Pitch correction, saturation, compression, eq, deesser, delay, reverb

#

Values depend on the material and style you’re going for

Also makes sense since you eliminate a lot of redundancy in the chain

#

You should be using clip gain to get the levels within a certain range then having light compression to smooth it out

#

EQ comes afterwards so that the moves actually do something vs it getting squashed from the compression

#

I use other tools as well but he wanted only stock plugins

Is there way that you can try replicate the setting/number values using only stock plugins. I know it depends on what mix you do, but maybe you can share an example of something you would do by default. Say, hypothetically, if the very first thing you were to do when you open up a project was create the vocal chain?

Saturation I do entirely by ear but generally you aim for it to sound full but not distorted, the comp I usually use 4:1 settings and set the threshold around-18 to -12db

#

Attack around 10-20, release between 60-200

#

Sometimes might use another comp or two to smooth it out

#

Then from there I use EQ which I adjust by ear. Main consistent thing is a high pass from 55Hz to get rid of low end rumble

#

Then from there I use a deesser at around -8db reduction which goes to delay and then reverb

#

The mix on the delay is no more than 15-20 usually often less and the reverb I stick to around 16-18 percent but that depends on what’s being used

#

Like a hall might have less mix on vs a room reverb or a plate. I don’t do exact values cause it’s material dependent and you gotta use your ears
