Idk, I am no song writer or anything— just a plebeian.
But I am an artist.
So, I would say — and I’m sure you know this too — that song writing is an art, and the words (& music if you write music for the lyrics, too) are your medium. It’s a form of expressing the very innermost being of how and what it is you feel. You are communicating your story. It’s a very powerful and beautiful thing. So, I would just say to tell your story, and it will shine brilliantly!! ✨❤️✨

Also, side note: if you are not just writing for yourself and are wanting to write music that other people are going to listen to, I’d say to think about your audience. How can you communicate your story to your audience in a way that they will be able to hear and understand exactly what you want to tell/communicate to them? It’s has a lot to do with perspectives. I.e. talking about lipstick and makeup will create a wall for a lot of the male audience because they cannot relate to that. The same way talking about cars and sports will turn off me and a lot of the female audience. Let’s say you started off with a lyric about football and war eagle. You now got me and a lot of women already tuning it out — unless that woman really likes the Auburn Tigers. But as I am saying this, I digress. Whatever you do, make sure you do not lose what makes you you. Tell your story. Be who you are: authentically, uniquely and unapologetically you; don’t become a cookie cutter conformity. Don’t change yourself and your own individual artistry that only you possess to what you think — or what somebody else tells you — what others would like.

In short, don’t change for the world, be you. I can tell my story and express it in my own way while also having others be able to understand what I’m saying. It might sound like I’m contradicting myself, but it’s art, it can handle it. Creativity here we go! We can make it work! Let’s go Sailor Warriors!! Magic princess sparkle let’s go!!! 😊❤️✨✨✨

p.s. I know that was lengthy but hopefully it was helpful ☺️❤️✨. I wish you well on your song writing journey ❤️✨!!

Also, another side note. Try just writing and practicing your skills. Start with just a blank google doc — or anything, really, doesn’t have to be google doc; that’s just an example. And then begin painting the white page with words, stoking sentence after sentence (or, in this case, lyric 😊! But sentences are great for creative writing and expression). Now that I think about it, song writing — and creative writing in general— is a lot like painting lol. Literary skills, vocabulary, reading other works, immersing yourself into the world of words/literature/language and how literature/language/words are used to communicate things are all great things that can really help. Song writing is artistry, it is art; and art takes time and practice to learn and develop as a craft. All in all, You got this! I believe in you! I can’t wait to hear some of the work you’ll make! Please dm me when you write something, sometime, if you want 😊! I’d love to hear/read it!
