Hi everybody! I just wanted to come here and talk about a repeated issue that keeps happening in this server, and how people been reacting.

Recently, I've noticed a huge decline in positivity, kindness and equal support amongst all performers. I've had people not react to a performance of mine. I've had people say "You're not singing, you're screaming" when I belt. I've been given unsolicited criticism like "take vocal lessons" or "Come back when you can hold a note." . When called out on this behavior, they justify and say "I'm allowed to say my opinion."

I am a musical theatre arts student. I can handle a critique, but I'm not here for that. I'm here to have fun.

It's not just me. Not everyone in this server has professional training, not everyone here has perfect pitch or has good tone, but it's not the point. People should be celebrated just for putting yourself out there, and giving it your all.

TLDR; People are being rude to singers, and that's not okay. Please be kind.

I'm sorry you had that experience and i agree that this IS an issue. I'm glad you didn't take it too closely to heart but I'm afraid for everyone who's struggling with self confidence to sing in the first place and then gets that. The point of karaoke is to not perform a masterful showcase of your vocal range but to have fun! Anyone who is reading this and got that sort of feedback that op described, you're amazing for even being brave enough to perform, and those guys are just assholes who live on putting down others. You're doing great by being yourself and showing your love for music ❤️

Sorry to hear this, probably a good idea to specify on how critical you want feedback. Important to note that haters are always going to be around regardless of the talent or skill one has. Part of being in art is learning to not let it sew doubt in your creativity
