what kind of music do you listen to already
I was a lot into different types, firstly rock alike; the beatles, guns n roses, the rolling stones, men at work, pink floyd, queen, the smiths, and newer arctic monkeys, etc... then i changed into a 70's 80's vibe like; Cindy lauper, abba, tears for fears, blondie, lasted shortly. After that I listened to more hiphop/rap music like N.W.A, Sir-mix-a-lot, Eminem, The notorious big, D12, Dr.Dre, etc... I liked it but got tired after a while, then popular artists, but didn't like it a lot, but some were really good. I like Tyler, the creator a lot. I searched for artists abroad with a type of search for jazz like; from italy, i liked Mina, she sings very well, and then they introduced me to kpop, i liked stray kids, hwasa, wonder girls, shinee, psy, day6 (big recommendation), enhypen, txt (amazing), red velvet, (g) idle. I'm a more 3rd generation fan, but then i heard "Try again" by jaehyun and d.ear and i liked that style soooo much, i discovered certain artists with that same vibe, like; JANNABI, Car the garden, Younhua, MAX, OVAN, keshi, wave to earth. then other artists that idk where to put like laufey, japanesse breakfast, hot freaks, amy winehouse, melanie martinez, mac the amrco (love him), mitski, mother mother, lamp, adele, lana del rey, the 1975, alex g, cas, coldplay, kali uchis, ricky montgomerry. That's it, I believe. But I found these sounds already heard a lot of times, i need something new.

You consider venturing into EDM like Deadmau5, Flume, etc?
Frank Ocean is also worth a listen if you like Tyler, The Creator
Blackbear is solid, Eden is fire too for his older stuff
Which are more along the RnB lines
ok let me take the genres you mentionned and give you some ideas to expand
Rock -> Prog Rock: King Crimson, Spinetta (underrated)
New Wave (Post-Punk): Talking Heads, The Clash
Hip Hop (has so many subgenres but here are my favorites): Death Grips (Industrial), Danny Brown, Freddie Gibbs, Run the jewels, Outkast, Nas, MF DOOM
Jazz (Many subgenres aswell): Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Herbie Hancock
K-pop: Odd eye circle (Loona)
Others miscellanious: Ichiko Aoba, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye
the new sounds were made when new genres spawned imo
you can use rateyourmusic to find albums by genre and descriptor
THNX
EDM that is great: Aphex Twin, Flume, Flying Lotus, Kaytranada, Boards Of Canada, Daft Punk, Burial, Sophie Xeon
thank you, ik there a lot of subgenres, sorry for not specifying, i'll tell you whats up
yea no worries
but tl;dr, experimental music is where it's at if you want to find new sounds atleast
and when i mean experimental is also only genre-defining music
yeahh, bcs i felt i was listening the same over and over
and couldnt find it on my own
thank youuuuuuu
np
@viscid jasper that song you're listening is great
one of my favorites from that album
i'm loving it, is new, so sloww and the harmoney is in the right tone
their debut is genre-defining for prog rock
the blueprint of it's genre, and that's why i love it
not to say there isn't any prog rock that is good after that album but it's refreshing to hear the first take yknow
so this is their first album?
yes
what is prog rock mainly about??? it's characteristics, cause im loving this song
prog rock is like rock with multiple sections with multiple instruments and harmonies
like pink floyd
that specific track is more mellow though
the ones that fit the description more are the 1st, 3rd and last track on the album
That says something good
okokoko
