#What's happened to Karaoke Lounge?

Just as FYI, I've been coming to KL for a long time - not since it's beginnings, but for a good many years.

Have some of the original mods and owners moved on? Pre 2023, KL used to be a rather busy place. It had active mods running rooms to encourage others to participate, it had an active flow of organised events and a general feel of positive energy from many people to encourage folks to participate in the fun.

Nowadays, admins, mods and room runners seem non-existent. People come and go into rooms like a revolving door - they'll just come into a room to perform then quit without so much a word. Others barely interact now, there's very little cohesion in rooms being run, very little activities or exploration of different music genres.

There is a huge amount of talented people on here, many guitarists, vocalists and instrumentalists who come on stage to try and share their passion of singing and music, but there's few people around here who seem to share in any such apprecation, rooms get frequented by trolls who just want to constantly mic hog, and there's not much cohesion.

It could just be that I've come into rooms at the wrong times - but it seems many of the active members of this community have long gone since the beginning of the 2020s, and Karaoke Lounge seems far more inactive than it once was.

Or is it just me?

I think troll problem isn't that bad? Yeah, they exist, but do you have any good way to find them?

Not to be rude, but it’s definitely just you.

We constantly have VCs of 20+ people in a VC with 15 people queueing up. Hosts are not there because a lot of the times the staff are busy, but we will lurk and be in the VC if we see it’s getting larger and chaos can happen.

We can’t know when trolls come unless it’s reported, so if you see trolls, you should be reporting them, but just mentioning that they exist and then not telling us and expecting us to know.

We get around 50+ people active in VCs frequently, and during events we get 130+ participants at a time because we don’t host events that often (we’re trying to host them more but need people in numbers to be able to do that since events run for 3-4 hours on the regular).

People are able to manage themselves and be cohesive in Kboxes, however considering how small people typically pick the kboxes to be (usually no more than 10), it’s expected that hosts aren’t necessarily going to be there

People seem to have been misinterpreting the point of this post. It's not to complain about trolls -trolls are going to be inevitable in any open mic discord servers and they always come and go. It's more about the fact with less staff participation, as you have mentioned, there's sometimes less incentive for folks to want to stay and participate. I have been to some of the organised events on here, and they have also been great.

Almost all the people on here are great, always chill and we get along and have fun- it's just that the energy has seemed to have made a bit of a dynamic change from what I remember it was in say, 2018-2021 - that could just be that preferences and audience have changed over the years, too.

It's probably more that I've been hanging out during the times the rooms get quiet.
