#How to sound less strained while singing

Hi so I'm trying to learn how to sing but I constantly notice that I sound a bit strained and kind of "shouty" when I use my chest voice
What should I do?

so before you sing try a 20 min vocal warmup
go on yurtube and search cheryl porter vocal warmup

the best way to do it is to not use your throat but use the air to create the sound. let your throat and your whole body relax just push your stomach and the air to make the sound
i've been performing since i was a kid, but i'm not a teacher and i can only tell you my opinions and what works for me:
make sure that your posture is always good when you're singing. my music teacher used to make me stand with my back and head against a wall because my posture was pretty poor. shoulders back too. i would recommend, if you're still working on your singing skills, that you try to only sing when standing or sitting up extremely straight.
voice needs to be warmed up obviously, but you can also drink tea or hot water with honey, ginger and lemon to keep your throat nice and healthy.
make sure you are singing within your range, and not pushing yourself to go any higher or lower than is comfortable for you.
also, you should be breathing from your diaphragm /stomach, not from your chest. a technique for this is to exhale ALL of the air from your lungs, and then start inhaling deeply with a focus on your core.
stay super hydrated and watch what you are eating. for me, i have to avoid greasy foods and chocolate but i don't know what will work for you.
avoid spending too much time in dusty areas, and always make sure that your sleeping area is clean from dust.
this is going to sound funny, but also avoid whispering. it can actually cause muscle tensions that wouldn't be there otherwise.
most importantly, don't push your voice to do something it clearly just doesnt want to do. thats how you damage your vocal chords. build your skills, and your ability will grow with them. never force it.
