#singing tips for beginners?

I'm a beginner singing as well, but I've been taking lessons. So maybe I can transfer some beginner directions that my teachers gave me?
- You want to match the pitch you sing to the notes of the song. But beware, every person's voice has a limited range and you can hurt your vocal chords seriously if you try to sing out of that range!!!!!
1.2 Get a pitch detection app, similar to the guitar tuners. I use PanoTuner app on my phone. Hum a low (bass) note to it, then hum a high note. Try to go for lowest/highest you can without any strain. Note down what app says are the notes you hummed. That's your safe range, until you get a bit more familiar with your voice
1.3 Do not go for difficult songs without warm ups!!! It's one way to hurt yourself - and you will either have to go a few weeks without singing or can even cause permanent damage to your throat.
Warms ups: Hum in the range you found in step 1.2. Do a scale, like if you have a piano play the white keys (in your range) and try to match with your humming. Other instruments work similar but you gotta know some music theory for those. You can also look online for internet piano or warm ups
1.4 Now go for the songs you want to sing. If necessary, transpose them (shift the notes) so that low/high notes are in your range. Hum them first, slowly. Check on the Tuner app to see if you are actually singing the right notes or you are off pitch.
That's all for now. Idk what level you are at singing, but pitch matching and not hurting yourself are the very basics. There is a lot more to practice and learn - chest/head voice, breathing right, projecting and pronunciation, harmonizing, (and a lot I prob have't even seen yet, as a beginner). Ask if you got any more specific questions.
