Are you using ur head voice or ur chest voice? You can google to learn more about it. Maybe the range that you are singing is not fitting and lead you to change between your head and chest voice which is really hard to done correctly. Most people struggle with it and it make unwanted sound.

You maybe dont like yours but others maybe. I used to think that my tone is hideous too but my friend like it. So maybe it is more about finding your audience and believe that your voice is valuable.
