Honestly I would scrap the whole thing and rerecord it cause this would get rejected if you sent it to a mixing engineer to work on it. The flow ain't the worst I've heard but I still would work on it along with cadence and enunciation of words
Thank you, I was honestly just going to move on to another project and make something new with what I learned but I might consider remaking it. I worked on it from midnight to 6am so as time ticked my vocals got worse and worse. I don’t know if I’d ever send something to a mixing engineer, I do this stuff purely for my own enjoyment since learning how to make music is fun in itself. Any pointers where to start on learning to use vocal filters? I’d like my vocals to be significantly more crispy, I’d attribute some of the struggle to recording on a Yeti but I’m sure I can clean it up a little more.
Uhh yeah that’s part of the problem, main thing would be getting an interface and inexpensive XLR mic if you want significantly better sound quality. Using a fancy EQ or RX 10 advanced ain’t gonna really help vs getting a better recording with an inexpensive interface and an at2020 or Rode in a decent room with a shield
Cause if you boost the highs on a crap mic and compress it, it sounds like shit
Main problem with the yeti is it’s omnidirectional so if your room sounds bad you’re gonna hear the room and they’re just not very good mics tbh so it exacerbates the problems it has
that makes sense, ive hopped on tracks with my buddies who have an expensive XLR but im just starting to make music by myself so when we get together im a little more competent. next time we get together ill see how the expensive XLR sounds and consider purchasing one for myself
thank you for all the help and advice, ill make another thread in the upcoming weeks with either a new project or a rework of this one
Keep in mind they’re only like 250-300 for everything with the interface, mic, shield, and pop filter which isn’t terrible and you can get it cheaper if you get it used
oh wow i was thinking like 500+
yeah thats a stupid easy purchase, ill buy one real soon then
i just wanna hear the quality difference in person honestly, i know its better but i wanna be sold hard
Entirely depends, there’s a huge range but even the basic inexpensive stuff with proper recording technique will make a huge difference
At that point it moreso falls back in you as an artist to perform well
perform well as in use proper equipment? or just perfect my craft
and also can you elaborate on proper recording techniques? im not entirely sure what you mean by that
Perfect your craft, equipment helps but you can only do so much if the vocal talent just ain’t there
It’s like getting a Ferrari and you can’t drive
It’s fast but you won’t be able to use it to its full potential cause you lack the skill
Main thing is to not clip and be 3-6 inches from the mic
what do you mean by clip, sorry
and yeah that honestly makes sense, ill see what i can do when it comes to my actual voice
still trying to get the grip of recording and rapping, so its more of a journey getting all of these things to work together
If it goes in the red. Try to have it around -18db on the digital meters
understood, thank you for all the advice! ill put it into motion
