Need feedback on a cover pls

Hi! decided to record a song (that's just raw, spent 5 min on mastering and without an ending, lol) what do you think so far? Do you like my first phrase? What do you think about "But I must pay"? Should I sing it like that or no?

I think you should turn down the instrumental a little bit, so your voice can be heard a bit clearer :D

The vocals don't sound bad, main thing is it needs better production and mixing to make it shine

i know! i'm awful at production and mixing tho

and my first recording was incorrect - mouth position is all awful, so it sounded held back and without emotion

Focus first on getting a great recording with great recording technique and obviously practicing and comping the best parts

Won’t get super into the chains used for vocals because it can get complicated without knowing the basics

i know, that's what i've been trying to do

it's okay tho, i'm not used to record myself, so it goes poorly

Also too when you don’t have an engineer, it makes recording more difficult since you have to worry about playback and everything else
