I want to learn electric guitar but, I don't know what to research, what to buy, or what to look for.

I suppose I am a bit late here, but if you have a budget in mind and can let me know what kind of music you are interested in I might be able to help out.

You seem to be in North America, so I'll recommend Sweetwater. They're the largest music store in the US, and most of their stuff will ship to Canada and such.

#

I started with a Squier Stratocaster HSS Pack

Ah, in that case, Id still recommend Squier to start out with

An HSS Stratocaster would be the most versatile I think

Specifically the Classic Vibe range is probably the right price category.

You'll probably want to get the guitar setup once you buy it. A basic setup should include adjustments that make sure the strings sit at the right height from the body of the guitar and that it feels nice to play.

#

A normal setup on a new guitar shouldnt cost any more than 50 dollars, if that IMO.

#

It's not entirely necessary though, as a properly made guitar will be playable when you first get it.

I never had one on my first guitar and I played it for years.
